Anyone had this procedure and then gone into a rebid facility? Wife had this done and has been in rehab for 2 weeks come Thursday. They now want to keep her another week (3 weeks total) I'm not looking for medical advise but just some comments from those that may have gone this. Thanks

i am going to have to have BOTH KNEES replaced. i am scared to death to have it done, but i know it must happen. i was alright with the issue till i asked the doctor what happens when your body rejects the implants. he told me that he would have to operate again and put in a substance he would call cement, keep me on antibotics for six weeks then operate again and reinstall the parts and if that didn't work then there would be amputation of the legs. my question is since i am so afraid of going to the hospital, should i have both knees done at the same time? i know of a couple of people who have both done at the same time that said they had no problems. has any of you had one or both knees replaced ? PLEASE give me just the feelings that you went through. i really dont need a bunch of B.S. at this time [:(]

for those of you who had read my previous post know what i am talking about. well the time has come. i can no longer stand the pain. i went to the doctor last week and he told me it was time to do the surgery before i have more nerve damage.i guess i am going to have it done. i have been to the pre op. class where they give you exercises to preform for a week before the operation, let me tell you they hurt like heck.i have to be in the hospital in the morning at 6:00 am and surgery is scheduled for 7:30 am. doc said it would take about 1 1/2 hours to do. doc also said about four hours after the operation there will be someone to get me out of bed to MAKE ME WALK. i'll be in the hospital for three days if everything goes ok.
physical therapy will be three days a week. i'll miss you guys and gals. just in case i dont get out you all have a MERRY CHRISTMAS and for some HAPPY HOLIDAYS[:o)]

The pain is not really bad. It hurts but only about a 4 or a 5. If i sat in a recliner all day like they told me too it would be a lot easier.

However the swelling is terrible. The other thing that sucks is you can not speed up recovery.[:(]

It is better than the old knees though.

    Hello folks.
I was relsd from the hospital
thur /21st and I am so scatterbrained
I don't think too well at all.
    Surgey went fine I'm told.
I had my first epidermal ---strange,
    ---strange,---strange,---strange feeling.
Pain is down around sometime before I went
to the hospital.Therapy folks are great people
but a bit too tortuois for me but if I can walk the
woods this years and years to come. It'll be worth it to me.

Father in law had both done a while ago. Had one "re" replaced last year.

It's true, 4hrs later he was in physical therapy.

It must be very painful, but he has had 160+ kidney stones. He cannot feel pain anymore.

I wish you the best and for a speedy, painless recovery.

One of my sisters had knee replacement surgery about 4 months ago. It went very well and her recovery was remarkable. She will have the other knee done soon.

Best of luck, I'm sure it will go well and you'll have a speedy recovery!

I wish you well also and a speedy recovery. Its common place to have those done these days and a godsend to individuals in constant pain.

Following your recovery you will wonder why you waited so long.

    Good Luck!
My father had one knee replace about 10 years ago. The second knee was replace about two years ago. The recovery time of the recent replacement was about a third of the earlier replacement even tho his was older. I would be optimistic and suspect after the recovery you will ask yourself "Why did I wait so long?". Good luck.

Wife is now about five weeks after her operation on her left Knee - it was just about what is predicted. They say you hate them for the first two or three weeks, question whether it was worth it for the next three or four, and then afterthat you wish you had done it sooner. Wife is just now thinking it wasn't so bad. Good Luck on yours - it used to be a huge thing, but they are getting it down - it goes pretty much as planned.

My friend had two done and the Dr. said he has never seen anyone heal as fast. The key to his success was soaking in a hot jacuzzi everyday.
