power tools older models

Does anyone know if its better to buy a older power tool thats in really good shape versus a current brand new tool. How do the current brands of power tools compare with their older versions. Say with brands such as Makita,Portercable,Dewault,Milwaukee,Black&Decker,etc. Also do they rate the power of current power tools differently today then they did some years ago. It seems that even cheaper models of power tools today have high amp moters versus years ago when only higher priced units had them. I guess in other words would a unit that was rated at 3.5 amps from some years ago be as powerful as one thats rated higher today. I've seen motors on units from some years back that were larger in size yet have a lower amp rating than a current model on a similiar model with a physicially smaller motor. I'am just wondering. Correct me if I'am wrong[?]

    Modern tools are hands down BETTER. They have more power, lighter in weight and are designed with ergonomics in mind. A 3.5 AMP powered tool does very little work in comparison to a 13 AMP motor.

    Old may be nostalgic but is sure ain't better.

    plus a lot safer than the old metal ones. or am i going back to far[:o)][:o)][:o)][:D]
