Deputies: Man Not Facing Charges After Shooting Trespassers
(Aiken County) - Authorities say they are not pressing charges against 26-year old Leonel Sanchez after they say he shot a man who tried to steal an all-terrain vehicle from his Graniteville home Saturday morning.
Lt. Michael Frank with the Sheriff's Department says 18-year-old Jack Cooper, of Graniteville, will be charged with Attempted Grand Larceny and Possession of a Firearm Under 21 in the incident.
According to investigators, a motorist found Cooper at 1:15 a.m. lying on Bettis Academy Road, and gave him a ride to a convenience store, where deputies met them.
Aiken County Emergency Medical Services then transported Cooper to the Medical College of Georgia.
Deputies say the investigation also led to the arrest of 22-year-old Clarence W. Oglesby IV, also of Graniteville. He is charged with Attempted Grand Larceny.
A 16-year-old juvenile also said to be involved was released to relatives.
