Schrade Knives
Anybody still have or use Schrade knives? My first hunting knife was a Schrade "Uncle Henry"? folder that was given to me by my father. I lost it a couple of years ago and have been using a CRKT for the past couple of years, but am thinking of getting another Schrade. Are they still made pretty well or no?

Are they any good? Made in the USA. Inexpensive. Get what you pay for, I imagine. 0 -
Never mind, just found out that they are made in China now[:(][xx(].

Have had one for years. 0 -
I have a few of the older ones around here somewhere.
Schrade, like many other knife makers, are not made in the USA anymore. [V]0 -
I've got a whole drawer full of Schrade 3 blade pocket knifes and various hunting knives I've used over 40 years. I've always liked them. A few years back I moved on to Kershaws.....It's a matter of preference.... Anyway, here is a neat website for you to view. I've ordered off this alot..... www.thebladeshop.com

I've got about 5 Schrades that I put away after they closed down a couple of years ago. Love the Uncle Henry. I now carry a Case 3 blade. 0 -
It's my understanding that the move to China has had little effect on quality. Schrade sets the standards on QC and contracts for those standards to be met. Many American knifemakers including BUCK (some Buck models are still U.S. Made) have done the same.
I understand if you prefer to buy American made on principle. But I wouldn't let the "Made in China" aspect deter you as far as quality in this instance.
I received a small "Winchester" logo lockback as a gift a couple years ago. The box said "madein China" and I originally dismissed it as probable junk.
Did a little checking around on the net and found that Gerber has the contract for the Winchester logo knives. And that even tho made in China, they were still of decent quality.
I sharpened it up and it took and is HOLDING the edge.
Of course this isn't the case on all made in China knives. But on your name brands, you should still get a good quailty.0 -
When I heard Schrade was going out of business I went around to every smalltown hardware store I could find and stocked up. Then about 6 months later I saw a bunch and bought them. The box had an American Flag on it. BUT. They are made in China. One I had from China. A little single blade lock back tore up in no time. Spring screwed up. Blade won't stay open. Should have known. 0 -
I bought one of probably the same model for FIL. Did the same thing. But he put thru alot of hard use before it did. Schrade still the Lifetime Warranty and I sent it back and the replaced the entire knife for free.
I also have one just like it/except w/plastic handles instead of wood. Found in a parking lot where it had been run over at least once. I carry it on River float trips and have used it many times to carve plugs (out of sticks) for kayaks that have lost them and are taking on water. IMO it's been a good little knife for intended lite uses.0 -
This one was given to me as a gift from a Tenant when they moved out. It is a USA made 4" SuperSharp blade. I don't know much about knives but I like this one.
