Blackroses...Chicken update with pics
You asked to keep an update on these little guys
so here they are. I have moved them from their box to a little house I tore apart and transported and then reasembled at my place for them. It has been fun growing them although they are far from full grown.

I see they run around outside?....Watch those hawks..thats what took the boss's chicks...
They look nice and healthy....Free range eggs are the best ever..and by the way, since I picked out the rooster, I have dibs on the first doz eggs as a prize...[:o)]

They are fun to watch chase flies[:D]
I have a planned yard completely enclosed with wire to keep the predators out and chickens in.
Right now they only come outside when I am there with them.
When They are out I can hear the Hawks screeching in the trees behind my house so I know they wouldn't last long if I wasn't watching.0 -

Avian flu concerns bar live poultry from State Fair (9:06 am)
The Associated Press
FAIRLEA -- Fairgoers will not see live poultry at this year's State Fair of West Virginia because of concerns about the discovery of avian influenza on a turkey farm in neighboring Virginia.
Agriculture Commissioner Gus Douglass decided to ban live poultry, a popular attraction at the fair, because of the Fairlea event's proximity to Shenandoah County, Va., which borders West Virginia, said Buddy Davidson, a spokesman for the state Department of Agriculture.
"I know that a lot of kids really like to visit that exhibit,'' Davidson said Wednesday. "But it's just a small part of the overall display.''
"There will still be a poultry building,'' Davidson said. "It's not going to affect attendance at the State Fair.''
On July 9, Douglass suspended all poultry shows and sales in West Virginia for 30 days. Davidson said the decision to ban live poultry from the fair, set for Aug. 10-18, was a precautionary measure.
Douglass has said the low pathogenicity avian influenza found in the turkey flock in Virginia is not the same as the bird flu found in Southeast Asia, Europe and other countries.
The state order does not involve commercial poultry operations because the birds are tested for the virus before being moved off the farm.
In April, the virus was found at a turkey farm in Pendleton County, which borders Shenandoah County. Officials destroyed the farm's 25,000 turkeys.

MVP,
I did the same thing with a straight run of 25 Buff Opingtons this past spring. We got them mailed to us as day old chicks that were born on Mother's day. All have survived so far, and they are getting real big. My wife and I enjoy just sitting and watching them.
