Political criminals
Should crime committed while in government service be a capital offense?
Does china have the right idea? They recently handed down a death sentence to the head of their food and drug administration for corruption.
These people (government officials) know they are in the public eye and pledged to service of the public and should be held and expect to be held to a higher standard yet many are as bad as our worse criminals. Often they are slapped on the wrist for their crimes leaving the public they serve out to hang. Self regulating "ehtics or investigative" committees rarely hand out any effective punishments IF the perpetrator is found guilty. Maybe if we hung a few of them now and then they would get the picture. I believe there should be a different standard for punishement because often the victims are the public at as a whole.

Yes. They're elected to uphold the standards and lead the country. If they can get away with a crime, then everyone should be able to as well. They should be more accountable than the average citizen. 0
