Anyone know where I can find?
A old but working computer that runs DOS besides Ebay? Ive searched every where that I know of and no one has one. Ive searched Google and other search engines with no luck, {it may be the way Im titling my search). Anyone who knows of a used online computer store that may have one would you please give me the link? I really really would appreciate your help.

Why not Fleabay? I use it all the time.[8D] 0 -
Call any of your local computer stores and I bet they have a "clunker" they will sell you. 0 -

Do you need actual hardware or can you do it in a vm with VMWare? It is basicaly "free" (as in cost, not Free Software, although parts are) for personal use.
IF a vm won't do it, let me know. I've got a Pentium 75, a 133, a couple of 200mmx or 233mmx machines, and some early P2s.0 -
Wouldn't you just need to find something with an older version of windows? Win 98 I believe had easy DOS access. (although I think it wouldn't handle more than a half gig of HD)
I think there is a way to DOS program on XP but I cant remember how to do it. (crs)
Where are the programmers when you need them?
Or hit the yard sales.

I actually checked Ebay and only found 2 and they were for parts, no power supply or battery and I dont even have an account with Ebay. I need a Laptop with DOS software on it, the Microsoft 98 can be run in DOS but will not work for what I need. As some of you remember I bought a Laptop with DOS software but no adapter, thanks to one of you here I found a adapter cheap. The laptop worked about an hour after my wife got it to boot up and the screen went out. So I went and bought a Compact computer with Windows 98 because I was told it would run in DOS mode. I finally got the programing cable I need today and we tried it out in DOS and it would not work. My wife tried to get it going for two hours, thats when she called the guy who sold me the programing cord and he told us it had to be genuine DOS only, that Windows DOS would not work because it was to fast to do the programing I need(Dont make sense to me either). Ive checked at all local computer places around here and no one has one. I cant find a Laptop with just DOS on it no where. I would think they would be stock piles of them? This small project has ended up costing me a fortune. Now my only option is to buy a serial port connector instead of the USB, hook the monitor to the laptop and see if I can get it working like that. Chances are the old laptop quit working not just the monitor. I still hope to find a working laptop with DOS on it. 0 -

Nighthawk - What application do you have that requires DOS ??
What, EXACTLY are you trying to accomplish ??
There may be a different/cheaper/easier way to do it.

Dont bother buying a dos machine, simply use a DOS emulator for free.
Such as DOSBox:

I think I've got a 286 laptop as well, it has/had DOS 6.22 on it...
(need a C64 CP/M module? TRS-80 boot/OS disks?)0 -
If you go start, menu, accessories, command prompt: That puts you into DOS mode on your windows unit! 0 -
i have one. 0 -

The DOS you speak of git_ur_done wont work believe me Ive tried, I was told by the radio tech it had to be DOS not Windows booted up as DOS. I need the plain DOS software for programing radios. No their not from the "Ice Age" their actually TK Series Kenwood radios. What is a DOS Emulator? That would be great. Will Windows 98 run it as true DOS. I got the programing cable for a USB port, now I had to buy one for a Serial port. At least I will have both cables. Im going to look at the one dheffley was kind enough to find on Craigs List. Im not going to get cussed out am I.[B)][:D] LOL!
Took a look at the one on Craigs list very nice(Thanks Mr.Heffley) but its a desktop and would probably cost me a fortune in shipping charges. He said he currently has Microsoft on it?0 -
