Wiring issues with my bike...need advice
I have a 1981 Honda CB900C (Custom), and I'm having a little trouble wiring the factory front-end lights back up.
Here's the deal:
It had a Windjammer fairing on it when I bought it. I didn't want it because it was mounted incorrectly and rubbed against the tank, and it shook the whole bike at highway speeds.
Ok, took the Windjammer off. That part of the problem is solved. Now comes the other part:
I put the factory headlight back on it. That was the easy part. The factory plug was still there and wired up, so the headlight comes on. Both high and low beams work. But when the high beam light is on, the indicator light on the instrument cluster doesn't come on. That's the first issue.
Issue number two is that the front signal lights don't come on. Problem number three is that they don't blink.
I have 4 unconnected wires in the headlight wiring harness, and I know they need to get hooked up somewhere, but I don't have a wiring diagram for this bike.
Does anyone know where I can find an online .pdf file wiring diagram? Does anyone have any experience working on these bikes?
I'm going to call my mechanic (not you, Cat) tomorrow and ask him if he can talk me through the problem.
Any assistance that any of you can offer would be appreciated, as long as no one flames me for taking the Windjammer off in the first place.

Buy a test light. $4.
Hook the testlight alligator clip to ground...put the probe on the first wire....turn everything on..cycle thru all the lights.....if your test light comes on....that's a hot wire for something....if it's flashing...and your turn signal happens to be on left...thats likely the left turn signal positive wire.
Hook your test light to the positive terminal of the battery...repeat process....if light comes on.....that wire is a ground.
I've had a few beers but I think the above instructions are simple enough to figure out how to jerry rig your wiring harness plugs back to their original positions.0 -
Got it figured out now. The signal light stalks needed to be grounded. Problem fixed. 0
