range report #2 303 enfield (pics)
this is about the 1945 303 enfield i bought last weekend at the gun show (same as the glock, see other topic). right off the bat, i had only bought 1 box/20rds of 303, thinking i could get more later... wrong.my local gunshop did not have any, so i have since internet ordered some. now about the gun- i had to remove the magazine to load it, my chubby fingers could not get the rounds in thru the top opening. the recoil was moderate w/ 150gr wolf ammo. i did experience some feed problems, on 2 times the bolt did not pick up the new round. the ejection of the old cases were flawless. i was kind of surprised how warm the front grip got after just 20rds. the 2 pics below are at 50yrds, since i had only 20rds, i did not do 100yrd- i wanted to make certain i hit the targets. the 1st pic is standing, the 2nd is sitting. both is 10rds(yes, i am certain). you must look close on the 2nd to count holes. Nice,I just shoot mine in a military benchrest match, best group at 100 was 2.9".Shoot at 200 for score, got a 94 with 1X.I used Wolf Gold 174 gr fmj bt. Stuff shoots pretty good, considering the age of the gun. 0 -
