Question on digital cameras?
I know nothing about taking pictures, what is the simplest one to use and what kind should I buy? keep in mind I aint going to spend all day taking pictures.

I bought one of these around Christmas, and it takes great pics,..........also easy to use!
You can find really cheap digital cams though, if you are just wanting to take decent general pics.

Actually Chuck,........I just pulled out one.
It is a Fuji 1.3 MP,......I don't have the cord anymore to hook it to the computer, but if you have a card reader, or are willing to buy one for ten bucks,..........you can have it for the shipping! It has all manuals, and takes very good pics.0 -
base model Olympias are pretty good. good picture quality, good camera quality, easy to figure out, reasonable price.
you can take it out of the box, put it on "auto" and start taking pictures.0 -

If buschmaster meant to say "Olympus" then +1.
Essentially all digital cameras will just point and shoot, even if they have features you never use.
The Kodak easy share line will automatically download to your computer when you set the camer in your dock, which I suppose gives you one less thing to learn.0 -
We have a Fuji A210..and it works great,...easy to use....compact...not a problem on the comp as it comes with its own easy and I do mean easy computer programs... 0 -
I'm very fond of my Sony Cybershot. One USB cord to plug in to down load the pictures or video. 0 -

I've got 2 Sonys - 1 that puts the pix on a miniCD, and the other that puts the pix on a 3 1/2 inch floppy.
Had them for a couple of years, and still happy with 'em.

I've got a Sony Mavica (old school), Sony cybershot (bought for deer cam), a Minolta Z2 and I just bought a Canon S3 IS.
The Cannon S3 is an awesome, intermediate level camera. IS stands for image stability so it will compensate if you're shaking a bit when you're zoomed in. Plus, you can use lense attachments and filters with it. Many manual settings.
If you want something simpler, the elph line are all point and shoots, but very tiny, with limited control. Canon's are known for having good lenses but I think Sony is even using Zeiss lenses now. Hard to go wrong nowadays. A lot of nice cameras out.0 -
My camera of choice is a Canon S3 IS. Not really a cheap camera, but WOW what great pictures. One of the only ones in the $400 range with image stabilization.
Image quality has soo much more to do with lense and ICD than mp. I would take a 3-4 mp with a good lense over a 10 with a poor quality lense. mp is just easier to sell so that is what is marketed.
As stated above, most of the newer models have an "auto" function that works great. That was all I used for the first 2 weeks on the new Canon, until I had a chance to sit down the the owner's manual and camera to figure out some of the options. The pictures are not all that much better now, except in poor conditions.0 -

I can tell you after a good deal of research and use the panasonic Lumix line of digital cameras have by far the best user friendly set up out there. Basic models will not get you confused with all the features, just point and click, then plug into your P.C.
On another note, if you're just taking regular family type pictures, you really don't need a high mega-pixel camera, unless you're going to blow up the photos to very large dimensions.

Kodak easy share with the docking/print station.
Got the wife one and she is technophobic, now she is making $200 a month on her own on the side selling Photo greeting cards.
I spent $300 bucks for the dang thing and its paid for itself.0 -
from what Ive seen they all seem to work about the same. Im not big into gadgets but for what you want I would probably spend no more than 200 bcks. Make sure you buy the upgraded memory card 0 -
