Some basic A K questions
Took it out for the first time and doesn't shoot too bad. What is the small "swing arm" for on the right side near the front site? Can you adjust for windage? Where can I get say 10 rd. mags.? Would make it easier to set up with if mag. wasn't so long. Are wood pistol grips available? Thanks from an AK novice.

It's the gas tube release lever.

Hope this helps.0 -
the "swing arm" on the gas block is for disassembly. take off the dust cover, take out the bolt carrier, then flipping up the swing arm releases the upper handguard/gas tube assembly. after that, there's another even smaller swing arm inside to release the lower handguard.
you adjust for windage by moving the front sight. you use a "drift", which is some kind of c-clamp looking thing that pushes on the round thing press fitted through the middle of the front sight.
you can get 10 round mags, but 5 rounders are far more common. they come with brand new imported ak's. look on the auction side of GB.
yes there are wood pistol grips. mil surplus, some are chinese and I think some are east european.0 -
A 5 round 7.62X39 looks exactly like a 5 round .223 magazine. Or every 5 round magazine at the last gun show I was at were .223 mags. So here is my question.
If they both use the same 5 round magazine, will .223 feed out of a 30 round 7.62X39 magazine?
I know, it's a stupid question but I had to ask.0 -
