third-year medical student -- which fact recalls the recent Doctors' Plot in the UK, and the news that came out at that time of large-scale attempts by jihadists to recruit doctors and other professionals.

DEARBORN - Houssein Zorkot, a 26-year-old Dearborn resident, was arraigned Tuesday in 19th District Court on multiple felony charges, including carrying a dangerous weapon with unlawful intent - a five-year felony.
Zorkot, a third-year medical student at Wayne State University, was allegedly armed with an AK-47 assault rifle and dressed in black clothing with camouflage paint covering his face when he was arrested Saturday in Hemlock Park.
According to police, Zorkot was observed attempting to leave the park in a black SUV after officers had received reports of a man carrying a rifle in the area. He was placed under arrest and is scheduled to undergo a preliminary examination at 9 a.m. Sept. 21 in 19th District Court.
Zorkot has also been charged with one count of possession of a loaded firearm in a motor vehicle and one count of felony firearm. He remains in custody on a $1 million bond (cash, no 10 percent).

I can see how getting an AK is easy, and turning it into auto is not that complicated, so I can understand that

I was not aware that "assault rifle" meant full auto?
I thought that any rifle semi or auto that could fire multiple rounds in succsession be it 10 20 30 50 ect. could be considerd an assault rifle?
I may be wrong and I need to know the answer.
I also belive that the media portrays any rifle in question more like what I have come to think. wrong as I may be. and in such case I am wrong and have been duped by the media.
When someone says

By definition, an "assault rifle" is any rifle capable of selective-fire, with an effective range of at least 300 metres and is chambered in an intermediate cartridge, such as the 5.45x39mm or 5.56x45mm. Any semi-automatic rifle which shares some of these characteristics, like a civilian AR-15, should be considered a "semi-automatic military-style rifle" or an "assault weapon". The confusion probably stems from the latter term, which I think was coined by the Democrats in the United States in order to induce such confusion.

an assault rifle will have full auto fire capability. if it does not, it is not an assault rifle. an M16 is an assault rifle. an AR15 is not. an AK47 is full auto and it is an assault rifle. a semiauto variant of the AK47 is not an assault rifle and it is not an AK47 any more than an AR15 is an M16. what the loony had was NOT, I repeat, NOT a genuine AK47. 0 -

My guess would be, but maybe not correct that this person had an ak-47 like gun that shoots 7.62x39 but semmi auto, miss labled by the media, or possibly not as a true AK-47 full auto, or possibly was a full auto.
I think the media must just use the phrase assault rifle without knowing the diffrence?
Or maybe they do and it was a full auto AK
