What I Learned About God From My Dog
I have a yellow Lab named Sam. Sam and I have a great relationship, and it occurred to me that our relationship is not unlike that of the relationship of God to man, or at least as it should be.
He is totally devoted to me. He likes nothing better than to just be in my presence, no matter what I am doing. He doesn't always understand what I want from him, but he continues to try and please me. He is genuinely crushed if I scold him, and he tries ever harder to make it up to me.
We should all have a relationship with our Heavenly Father as Sam does with me.

I think our Malemute/Wolf sees me more as the Alpha Male, my wife as the Alpha Female, and himself as somewhere between Beta and Omega; but since our younger son is away to college, Mr Yukon is pretty much all that's left around the house. He sees our house and yard as his territory that is to be defended to the death. Any strangers that approach the house are informed that they are intruders and had best identify themselves. This has it's good and bad points- very few solicitors make it to the front door before they decide they'd rather be elsewhere, but then the UPS man refuses to deliver to us, so I have to go to the UPS office, about 20 miles away, to pick-up packages.
It is nice to know that he feels so bonded to us as his family that he'll put us ahead of himself, and speaking of God, that's analogous to what Jesus did for us.0 -

Unconditional love, for sure. God complex? Hardly. I find having a dog companion like Sam to be a humbling experience.0 -
I have incredible low self esteem so the unconditional love might border on the complex. 0 -

JC- His full name is Yukon Jack and he's white on his underside and legs, shifting to biscuit/tan, then a black "saddle" from the fase of his head back to his tail, but the undercoat is white, with only the guard hairs being black. A lot a of people will say "what a beautiful dog" but I don't recall anyone saying "what a friendly dog". actually that's fine with me. 0 -

Yep, mine's name was Yukon Jack too. He had a white belly, going to gray and then to black on his back, head and face. He was huge too. His head was about 10" - 12" inches across, and he was about 140 lbs. He had black eyes too.0 -
Looks like this is turning into a dog thread. I pretty much like all dogs, but I have my favorites. The dog I have now is a blue eyed Australian Shepherd. The best dogs there are in this order are:
Yellow Lab
White Lab
Chocolate Lab
Black Lab
Everything else
