Not too many deer in FL, but lots of gators and wild hogs.

I used to hunt them years back, may start again with my boys.
Never did see one that large. Must be a record.

Did you know that there is no season on hogs here.
They wreck havoc in the Everglades, government wants to get rid of them.

Another tidbit: Most of the wild hogs here are direct decendents of hogs brought over by the Spanish conquistadors.

Oh, and no thanks on the bacon cubs. Like you, my cholest. is high.

    Dolfan -

TONS of deer here in Fl... just none of 'em weigh over 90lbs soaking wet. But, you can get 2 per day, and have 5 per license in the freezer.

I did a search at Snopes and came up empty with "bacon" as the term but hit the story with "wild hog"

Several un-stomped Japanese cities owe that man a debt of gratitude.

That is a serious hog to have coming after you! Damn it would take a big tree to stop that critter! Hope they can't climb the trees.

That's one big hog. Good eatin'.

Most always have one, or three, in my truck.[:D]

As I've always said--Breakfast just isn't breakfast without a little pig on your plate.

I am surprised the meat was any good on that giant, grain fed or not.
I bet it was a sow.

It's interesting to see what can happen when a creature exists without a natural enemy or disease in its way.

1,100 lbs. is incredible and had that guy not shot it, it might have gotten larger, or at least heavier.

Years ago, and somewhere in America, a high school student had a pet cockroach that he kept in a super-large mayonnaise jar. He fed it regularly and it quickly grew to over 6 inches in length! It was determined that because the roach had no enemies or disease in its immediate midst, the abnormally large size was considered to be an indication of possible unlimited growth potential for certain species.
