Different oils for different purposes?

Who uses a do-all oil for their guns?
Who doesn't?

I bought a few different types of oil bottles the other day...

3-n-1 SAE 20 for very small electric motors
LA-CO fine oil, has the zoom spout tube
and Liquid Wrench super oil

The LACO does a real nice job on all the internals of my pistols, and a coat of that slightly thicker 3-n-1 does great on the surface.

Anyone use either of these?

    I ran into a really neat idea years ago and have stuck with it. Polymer engineers get paid a pile to develop lubricants with particular purposes, so I use one called Gun Oil. Isn't that cool, no WD-40 for my guns. I use Break Free and Castrol synthetic gun oil and am now looking at dry lubricants.

    Ok, Hedgehog, I've used CLP for quite some time. I'll probably continue using it internally, I was looking for some long term oils that can protect the finish from moisture.

    I use zero friction, Hoppes oil, Militec and tw25b. Different guns for special uses get appropriate lube. I use Eezox too but that's allowed to dry and not really an oil.

    harley oil, lubricate with 50 weight.. batteries not included.. in reality lucas products are #1

    Mobil 1 5-30 works good on guns.

    Usually I don't use oils - but a brush of some sort to get the gunk out of the guns.

    Sometimes I do use a type of oil, but that won't be CLP.


    For lubrication, I use a teflon grease on most parts - and MolybdenumDiSulphide grease on other.
    That have really worked up the feel on quite a few guns I've owned.

    Hey Nanoq: givette here. What label is that moly grease sold under?

    I use slide glide on high impact areas. Hoppes oil. Spray the metal with Eezox. Put my pistols in one of those plastic "no rust" firearms bags. Joe

    I got tired of using hoppes with its rediculous price tag so now I use 3n1 and hoppes VERY sparingly. I've not had any issues.
