m-4 ???
Ok I got a bushmaster m4 a few weeks ago and love it but it has one draw back its louder then hell it has a muzzle break on and you dont want to shot it at all with out a good set of protection.Now I wear protection when im just out shoting but if im hunting then I dont.
Will replacing the break with a bird cage muzzle help any [?][?][?]

Muzzle breaks do increase noise a lot. Replacing it with the flash hider would probably reduce the noise... but not enough to make it "safe" to shoot without ear protection. Even .22 LR does damage to your hearing. 0 -

tazz I know what you mean about "wearing ear protection in the field". If the different type of muzzle break doesn't do it foor you...you might try the electric "sound activated" ear protectors...won't block out normal sounds...but you would still look lke Mickey Mouse in the field...[:D][:0]
...If all else fails or you no likeie...use the old field trick of "mouse tampons", they help some...[;)]

Consider getting a silencer for it if they are legal in your state. It won't do a whole lot for a super sonic round of M4 caliber, but it should be enough to allow you not to have to wear hearing protection.
Silencers were originally outlawed due to fears of poachers being able to hunt without as much attention.0 -

I thought about that also, I live in Texas so I think I can have one on it just have to check into it.0
