The Village
How many of you saw it? Did you like it?
I think the reason it received such bad reviews is because 95% of the viewing population was too stupid to understand it. I believe if you disliked the movie you just didn't understand the point. M Night likes to put a deep meaning in his movies. This one wasn't an exception. It was harder than his others were to pick up on his message. I've liked and own every one of his movies. I think he is an outstanding film writer. I'll continue to see all of his future work.
I just watched it last night and it reminded me of what my coworker had said about "Signs". We were sitting at work one day at the desk, a very slow day with few customers. The delivery driver had came in after his runs and started talking about it. He was talking about what a great movie it was and how he liked it so much. Well Paul, my coworker, had to butt in. "That was the stupidest movie ever. These aliens are so advanced and have this master plan to take over the world, but they can't build some kind of plastic shield to protect themselves from water?" I looked at him and couldn't believe what he said. He's a smart guy, how could he say something so dumb? I had to laugh in his face. I said "Paul, the point of this movie was not about aliens and their weakness to water. The whole purpose of this movie was all of the signs that lead up to that event in the living room with the alien. The boy's asthma kept him from the poison, the little girl and all of the glasses of water, Merryl's baseball talent." He honestly gave me the blankest stare I've ever seen in my life. I laughed about that one all day long and still do. I'll never forget it.
Thought I'd post this up and see what the crowd at GB felt about the Village and M Night's movies. The Village mainly because it was such an underrated movie.

I saw it, rated it as good entertainment and a step above most other hollywood flicks. It wouldn't make my top-50 'must see' list, though.
Maybe I'm really dense, or else maybe it's been too long since I saw it: I don't remember any aliens in that flick. Wasn't it a group of people who decided to escape modern life and created faux monsters to scare the children into staying in their little village?0 -
If you want to see a stupid movie, go out and rent Babel starring Brad Pit.. 0 -
I liked village, I'd give it 3.5 out of 5 rating 0 -
The aliens were in "Signs". That was just a short story about my coworker.
The rest of the post was about the Village.0 -

I enjoyed the Village, especially the surprise ending. SIGNS though was so doggoned low-key, yet filled with portents, that it took a second viewing for me to divorce myself from the usual violence, vanity, vulgarity and utter stupidity of most Hollywood fare nowadays.
Wasn't there one in which a swimming pool played a part? I haven't seen that one yet.

There is just something queer about the way some directors have to make appearances in all their work... 0 -
the only problem i have is after a while, all his movies have a similiar twist at the ending 0 -
Love the Village and hated Signs. 0 -

Lady In The Water. It was a decent movie. Took a while and second watching to get a lot of the hidden stuff.0 -

I did not like it due to its anti-climactic ending. I felt like I was jipped. 0
