home at last
Got home with the wife and new baby just a little while ago. It's great to have the whole family safe at home. Had to do a little standing up to the doctors to make it happen though. They tried every trick they had to convince us that we needed to leave our new son there. After a few calls to the insurance company and our pediatrician they decided that what was "in the best interest" of our son was to come home and be under the care of his own pediatrician.
BTW, he is perfectly healthy except for a little jaundice. And come tomorrow he will have the bililight for photo therapy at the house.
Sometimes I hate hospital doctors. There I got my own hate thread going.[:D]
Again I thank God for everything, and all of you for the prayers and well wishes.

Hey!!! GOOD TO SEE YOU GOT HOME SAFE!!!!!
Doctors...psschttt!!....what the heck do they know. My oldest was a bit "yeller" when she was born....(its the yeller ones that grow up to give the parents the grey hairs and cracked molars...from grinding their teeth.)
The funny thing about one of our three stays at the hospital....they had some "special service" where a nurse would come around and show you how to hold, pick up, and general ways to "safely" handle your baby. We were there for child #2 at the time so the little 20-something year old said:
"I see you are familiar with everything and probobly won't need me"
About the same time my grandmother came in....grabbed my (less than one day old girl)...propped her where she was sitting straight up on her knee....started BOUNCING HER and singing "Boop Boop Boop Boop Boop."
We all just sat there for a sec with our mouths open.....until my grandfather said:
"put that baby down...your givin the little nurse lady the fits!"
She is 11 now and I know the booping didn't hurt her one bit![:X]0 -
Congrats! Enjoy every minute of it. Mine will be nine in Sept. and it seems like yesterday that we brought her home. I know it's cliche' but very true.[:)][:)][:)] 0 -

When I had my youngest we had one of those nurses or whatever they are come in and start their little class. She didn't look to happy when we were talking about holding the baby and I said "You mean I just don't grab it by the scruff of the neck like cats and dogs do?!" [:p]0 -

Congrats! My daughter (now 3) had jaundice and was under the bili lights in the hospital for 4 days (we got home and had to go back). Her levels got up to 28. 10 years ago, they would have done a 100% blood transfusion on her. All is ok now and she is the smartest girl you've ever seen!
The worst part is going to be his poor feet when they test him every day for his bili levels.
BTW: She was 6 weeks early and was a different blood type than her mother, the 2 biggest reasons for high biliruben levels. She also did not eat much and hence didn't poop much. Photo-therapy and pooping are the only ways to get rid of biliruben.
