...For cloudy water conditions, I prefer darker lures, like a Texas rigged black or purple twister tail....[:D]

...I haven't had a tank in 20 years, so sorry, can't help ya.

It's not the Acrylic "glass". It sounds like you've done what can be done short of breaking it down and starting from scratch. Just a guess, since it can't be the material the tank is made of, and you've changed the gravel, plants, and decorations, maybe the offensive bacteria is residing somewhere in the filter system and when you manage to clear the water it takes a few days for the bacteria living in the nooks and crannies of the filter system to produce enough new bacteria to recloud the water?

    Dumb questions..
    Not overcrowded is it?
That built in wet/dry doesn't have a undergravel type of intake does it? (undergravel bad..no matter what the experts say) imho
Have you shut off the built in wet/dry and tried just the canister for a while? (it should provide enough filtration on it's own.) In case there's something in the wet/dry.
Was the tank made by a reputable manufactor? (there were some problems with these when they first came out years ago. With particulate from the assembly process remaining in them and incompatible glues)

Sorry I can't think of anything else right now. (the first question WAS really kinda dumb.) [:I]

    Good luck

It is not overcrowded, and the cloudiness was there before the fish were put in. It is an Oceanic BioCube, 1 of the largest names in aquariums. There is no undergravel filter. The back "false" wall has a 4 inch compartment that houses the wet/dry filter. Two intakes, one out, bio-balls, a sponge filter and a charcoal/floss replaceable cartridge.

I have tried it without the filters for the wet/dry and just the fluval but not with it off. I guess it couldn't hurt.
