Captain America's "died" before.
Once the Punisher shot and "killed" him in "Captain America versus The Punisher."
Let's not forget how he "died" when that V3 he was on blew up over the Atlantic.
Oh... and he "died" during Secret Wars (the first one, not the second or the third).
And he "died" during Onslaught.
And let's not forget how other notable heroes "died." Superman, Supergirl, Robin, Marvel Girl, Colossus, Psylocke, Thor, Wonder Man, Professor X, Mister Fantastic, the Human Torch (the android one)...
The list goes on and on.
He'll be back in time for the movie.0 -
emm have you been reading what is going on in marvel. they have a civil war going on. with the government demanding all heroes and villians be registered. with the gov putting non registered superbeings in prison. They use tame former villians to hunt and catch any resisters. It actually got me reading comics again. Cap was arrested for not registering and a sniper shot him going into the courthouse. Kind of makes me think of gun registration and the like. Using informers and other bad guys to catch those who don't agree with the law. 0 -
Captain America's been torn apart

said turn me around and take me back to start
I must be losin' my mind

superman died..yes
supergirl died in "crisis on infinite earths"..the one you see now is protoplasmic mass origianally called matrix
robin, dick grayson the first robin, grew up and is now nightwing. robin 2, jason todd, was killed by the joker, beaten with a crowbar. the current robin is tim drake.
cap vs punisher was a "what if..." premise, not part of the marvel universe continuum at the time.0 -

If you are going to be a super hero these days you better be bulletproof... 0 -
Haven't read a comic book in over forty years but I think it's amazing that these superheroes have managed to survive as long as they have simply from a marketing perpective.
I wouldn't think that most kids get into comic books nowadays what with video games and such. I realize that many adults read them and that there are numerous serious collectors of them but I think the industry itself and its audience has just shrunk.0 -

cap vs punisher was a "what if..." premise, not part of the marvel universe continuum at the time. You're forgetting that Superman was also "killed" by Doomsday and Jason Todd came back from the dead as some sort of mobster villain and/or a more violent Nightwing (I don't keep up with DC too closely).[8D]0 -
