RF / infrared help please!
I am having problems with my CATV remote working. It bothers my wife more than I, but is still a problem. It seems not to work well, like it is out of sync. The CATV tech has told me it is RF interference causing the problem.
The remote is not UHF, it is infrared. I have been told by another source that Rf does not interfere with infrared.
Can anyone tell me if this is true or not?
Please help. My wife is really irritated by this and is taking it out on me! [:D]

Infrared (light) and RF are considered part of the same spectra as are X-Rays and visible light, but that's where it ends.
Infrared is just beyond the visible spectrum for humans. RF in any form is far from what we humans can sense. So... Light is part of the total electro-magnetic spectrum, but for the purposes of your question not the same as RF.
So... The answer is that your tech is shoveling bovine poo.[xx(]0 -
Nord is right.
Put new batteries in.

Thanks guys.
I have tried new batteries with no success. Got an apt for a tech to come out this afternoon yet.
We shall see what can be done.
Thanks again0 -
Hey! Do you have a Sony TV and a Motorolla Cable Box? 0 -

I sent you an email - but this is what problem we had.
The remote for the DVR would only work if it was around 5 feet or less from the tv.
Turns out, the TV interfered with the DVR. We moved the DVR to the lowest point, farthest away from the TV and it resolved the problem.0 -
Thanks I will try that after work.
My remote quits working right at 6" from the box... may not be the same problem, but worth a try.0 -
Let me know if it works. If it makes any difference, my sony TV is a traditional rear projection type. 0 -
No such luck. I moved the DVR 8' from the tv, with no results. Thanks for the tip anyway. 0 -

Well that sucks. The Motorolla DVR is very succeptable to interference though. Maybe try it in another room on another TV just to rule out something in the room.
We have a wireless house alarm (all the sensors are wireless) and that interfere's with a lot of stuff in the house. We found this out when we got one of those remote extenders (for the DVR issue) and it wouldn't work at all.
Motorolla won't admit it, but that unit has a lot of remote control issues. We found several people on the Internet that had problems like us.0
