Win. Model 70 Question

Hey all, I've got a Win. Mod. 70 Black Shadow in .270. I am just wondering what the best way is to get rid of the horrible trigger pull. It feels like it's about 8 pounds right now and I would like to be around 4 or so for hunting. So is there a simple fix or should I just look at putting in a Rifle Basix trigger or something similar? I'm open for any suggestions, I love the rifle, just want to get a little bit more accuracy out of it and I figured the trigger would be a good place to start.

  Unless they have changes something in the last couple of years the Model 70 trigger is easy to adjust but has a tendency to become unsafe when adjusted to the low end. Take to someone who knows what they are doing.

  both pre and post 64 model 70's triggers are the same. very easy to adjust it takes a 1/4 inch wrench and screw driver. if you cant adjust it with that take it to a gunsmith so he can polish the sears.

  A "rifle basics" would be a good start, you can also look at Jewel or Timny for other great triggers. A heavy trigger is anything over 1 pound to me so the factory trigger is always the first thing I change.

  I own three newer winchesters and have adjusted the triggers on all of them. Winchesters and Remingtons are the easiest factory triggers to adjust. You will need a trigger pull gauge though. Don't adjust the trigger without one, because you could set it too light.

  That seems like a pretty straight forward deal from what the article said. So can anyone recommend a good trigger pull gauge?
