Missouri deer hunt pics Bloody NSFW
Hi ya"ll! Sorry about the bloody pics, I didn't have time to clean it up any more before the meat processors closed for the night. Here are pics of one of the deer I got this year in Missouri. Not a great rack, but a good meat deer. The processers said he weighed 133lbs. which means it was around 150lbs. I guess before I dressed it. Look at the wound in the rib area. That is an entry wound folks! No exit wound. This deer dropped where it was standing. Nosler ballistic tips from a .270 at around 350 yards.
Tough hunting in Missouri this year. At least in the area I hunt.(outside the Sedalia/Sweet Springs area) Alot of does and alot of smaller bucks like this one, but fewer trophies this year[V] I can't complain to much though. I tagged four deer in the three days I was up there. Next year my brother-in-law is taking me on an Elk hunt. Colorado I think.[:D]

Glad you got your buck, My friends were all complaining about this years deer hunting in Missouri. Down by Collins MO with the heat and wind so you did good.[:D][:D][}:)] 0 -
The lungs and heart were like jelly. Two broke ribs at the entry. I think it came apart inside or when it hit the ribs because I only found a small piece of lead in the heart. I was in a hurry to get it to the processor before they closed. They were an hour drive away with about an hour and ten minutes to get there so I made haste! 0 -

That is not a bad deer. I would have taken it.
Those Nosler ballistic tips in a 270 can do some damage. Especially when you use them in the 120, 130 grain rage.
Did you ever hunt in or around Novelty MO just north of Columbia off of Rt 63? I know a couple of people from up that way that are into Radio Controlled model racing. In 2003 and 4 they were taking some huge bucks in that area.
We had an odd season. A 21 point was taken off of dads land which had a rack that measured less than a six point. Some 10 pointers weighting around 110 while Spikes could go 150, 175 range.0 -

Heres a pic of mine, first "wall-worthy" buck for me. 21" wide 10 pt.
Finished my season yesterday with a small doe on the last day of doe season. First time I've had the chance to rifle hunt in the snow.0 -

JimDeere, I used store bought Winchester supreme. They are loaded with Nosler 130gr. boattail ballistic tip balls. I did not have time to load my own, although when I do I load 58gr. IMR4831. Good powder.0 -

Good job Matwar, those kind of dear are tough to find where I hunt. Although I appreciate a nice rack on a deer, I am more interested in harvesting the meat and managing the doe population so we can have more big deer like that. You can't eat the rack no matter how hungry you get![;)] 0 -

Now about the ammo.
The one and only time I used ballistic tip for hunting deer was out of a 30-06 and the wound was 7"w and 1/2" deep?
totally ruined one front quarter as it jelloized.
Now I only use ballistic tip bulllets for things I want to explode because that is the worst big game bullet I ever used.0 -
I agree completely with you about the doe population, thats why this is the first buck I've killed in about 4-5 years. About 8 years ago I convinced the guys I hunt with to not shoot any bucks unless their antlers were to the tips of their ears. Every year I shoot 2-3 does and always get another one or two from buddies. Its all we eat in this house, other than a little chicken. I feel its because of this that I have finally been able to shoot a "wall-hanger". 0 -

Sure, I'm up for an idea-swappin'/beer or two/deer hunt or turkey hunt sometime. I have to let you know though that I personally don't have any land to offer a hunt on. The land I hunt on is private property of some friends of mine. As you know, there is alot of public land in Missouri, maybe we can work something out with that. I've been tryin' to talk Jacob2008, and Tomahawk into a something, maybe a GB-git-together-turkey hunt. 0 -

My cull buck from a buddy of mines place. It was out in west Texas and wind was blowing 40 mph+ never thought we'd see a deer but we went out anyways. Got set up and he came out within 15 minutes of daylight. 150 yard shot with a .243 pretty much destroyed his lungs and heart. Ran about 20 feet and piled up. First deer I've shot in 9 years.
