That is good shooting at 300 yards.

I have never had the chance to shoot mine that far due to only have ranges 200 and less in my area.

I started today at 100 the 200 then 3, wanted to go more but got real rainy, on a open range.
I can get 1000 yd shots on my range, not with 223 of course[:D]
but would like to get to 600 or 800 yds with 223[8D]

This is not criticism in any shape or form, just honest opinion. I would expect better grouping from both the gun and the shooter at 300 yards with a scope. I think you need to put bright yellow aim dots on the target and try for groups of around 3" at 300 yards.

This will improve your practice and greatly improve your grouping. I don't think you or the gun did a bad job, but I do think you were just shooting at the whole target and hit it. You should have been shooting at a spot on the target and grouping tightly.

Nice gun, and the guy would be very dead at any cost![;)]

That's strange? I used mine a couple weeks ago and all I heard was an annoying buffer spring.

As far as Divebomb's target, Thanks for posting, and, not bad for a "novice", work on breathing and trigger pull technique, and you will soon be putting all the holes in his eye at that range with that equipment.

    For what it's worth, here's a 100 yd target with a .223.

This is (5) 3 shot groups with scope adjustments in between groups 2, 3 and 4.

I think you can do better!

    edit: those are 1" sqaures.

Was that with a an AR?
    Great shooting.

The rifle is capable of better...but you would have accomplished your objective. Not bad shooting, but Danny gave you some good advice.

Pretty darn good shooting for a novice shooter (as you noted), esp at 300 yards.
