Yes, Dec 7 1941

I was a teenager at this time, 15 years old when at a church Christmas play practice the news came out. We were dismissed for this practice. Later, I thought it out about the war. I was too young. My
brother was a Govt worker, my dad had already served in the Mexican Border War and was badly wounded in WW 1, so I figured it wouldnt effect
us. How damn wrong I was. My brother enlisted in the Air Corps and became a gunner in the ETO, my dad couldnt enlist but did volunteer for the draft, being 45+ and was finally accepted for service, wounded in France and shipped home, and I enlisted and ended in the 3rd Inf. Div in
the ETO for several campaigns. Strange how things work out.

    I was just a little over 1 1/2 yrs old when the Japs bombed Pearl. My Dad and Mom worked in the Oakland shipyards as welders during the war and I had one uncle who was in the infantry. I remember when the war ended. I was playing next door and the lady told me to run home and tell my mom that the war had ended. I did and found my mom crying.......tears of joy.
