Two weeks ago today we had our baby. 8 pounds 3 ounces. Unfortunately, she has a crease in the palm of her hand that goes across from one side completely to the other. I never heard of such and did not know it would matter. She also has a habit of doing tounge thrusts. Apparently, this can be indication of one extra twenty first chromosone. Downs Syndrome.

She took a helicopter ride to the regional hospital, Loyola, ust outside of Chicago. Fortunately, she does not haveany other health issues. The heart is fine, The lung, kidneys, eyes and hearing are all fine. In any case, we spent a week and half in the intensive care. The only physical probelm found was that she wouldn't suck enough at first, but she is eating fine now.

We've waited a long time for her, and she is beautiful.

It's not clear to me whether your daughter is confirmed trisomy 21 or if that's still just a possibility.

Anyway, with the chemical and nonchemical therapies available nowadays, she is going to be a LOT better off than any T-21 infant could have been even 20 years ago.

She's a gift. It sounds like you already know that.

Include me in praying for your new baby. Our developmentally handicapped son is 30 yrs of age and lives with us still. However, he is the joy of our lives. [:)][:)] Not all these things have a bad outcome. I do pray that your new baby is health and normal. [:)][:)][:)]
