Driver license etched on gun
Lately I've seen maybe a half dozen auction listings where there is a note about a previous owner etching their drivers license number on the receiver of a gun. Why would some one do this? Are there any states that require it?

They do it because it's likely to be stolen - or at least the owner thought so. 0 -
Just because you're paranoid, don't mean they're not after you. No really, people do that as an identification so if they are stolen and recoverd they would be easily identified. I engrave some of mine on the outside just to look cool, It's also a deterrant to selling them when money is tight, unless you know someone with your same initials. 0 -
There was a big run on doing this back in the '70s with all my friends......engraving their license Nos on everything. I did it on a few things like tools, but NEVER to my guns. I had more sense then that. [:)][:)]
