Taurus Judge

I've been thinking about getting one for a while to keep handy in my pick-up but have been hesitant, I've gotten a pretty decent offer on a S/S 3" Taurus Judge, does anyone on here own one or have any real shooting experience with one ? If so let it roll, good & bad.......thanks. Also: Intended use, whatever needs to be shot fairly close, snakes, wild dogs, squirrels & general knocking around fun. No stranger to shooting high powered handguns so that's not a problem.....I don't think [:D]

    I finally caved in and treated my self to the lightweight Titanium Judge. 4" barrel.
    Does anyone have any holster ideas or suggestions?

    Has anyone had any personal shooting experience with a Taurus Judge .45/.410 with 6 1/2" barrel, I've got a chance to get one at a great deal from a relative. The distance involved makes shooting prior to trading prohibits my trying it out first, I've have always kinda wanted one for .410 shooting. Question, what would you compare the kick/blast to if several rounds are popped off as in snake killing, another way of asking....does it HURT ? [:D]....I've got big hands if that matters [:)]

    Have you had a chance to try it out yet? Give us a range report when ya do. I went to my gunshop Tuesday and was thinking about buying one and they're sold out. The owner said as soon as they come in he sell's them all.

    Bianch Mofel 7 Lined is a great holster I have several of them, some have been in use almost daily for a few yrs. Nothing but praise for them.

    Great purchase...I want to pick up a SS 3" version.

    There are holsters available. Shoot my wife Belinda an email ( bcox@gotsky.com ) and ask her for some info. She can hook you up.

    Had to send one back to Taurus today. Seems the owner shot 3" 00 buck through it. It was a 3" model and it was a total mess. Cylinder wouldn't lock up and wouldn't stay closed, hammer wouldn't budge and trigger was broken.

    I don't think they make a Judge yet that will shoot 3" .410 shells.

    They don't....supposedly they have one in the works, but it's going to be a pretty long gun if they do make it. 3" shotgun shells are not 3" long, so I guess it is possible that someone might have got one in a standard Judge.?.?

    I have a polished stainless Judge I bought from Cabellas a couple of months ago. It's a kick to shoot.[:)]

    FP...how is the recoil...I've had quite a few potential buyers ask, but I've never shot one. It looks very manageable from watching the video on Taurus's website.?.?

    Got my early christmas present last week blued with a 6" barrel. The recoil is less than you would expect but still noticable. At 40 yds. offhand using 250gr lead I was keeping them on a 10" target easily. Using .410 2.5" #6 at 10' was putting lots of holes in a pop can. But that pattern opens up quickly.

    Should clarify that this was a 2 1/2" gun. How this guy (an artillery soldier at FT. Bragg) stuffed it in I don't know. Nothing at fault with the gun, I suggest reading owners manuals before firing as to shot sizes to use. The 3" model refered to was barrel length.

    Had my 3" blue for about a month. They are a hoot to shoot and that 410 pattern does open up fast..

    Have a friend that has one. The 410 does open up real fast, but that is OK. I think they are a great self-defense gun. Load them alternately with 45 LC and 410. In a car-jacking, a load of no. 6 shot from the 410 full to the face will make that person think twice about entering your vehicle! I want one!! Birthday is coming up in February, and it is on my list!!

    What is the retail price for the blued and the s.s. models? I've never owned a .410 of any kind. What size shot would be the most lethal for this gun?

    The 3" chambered Taurus Model #2441039MAG in blue has graced my hip for almost 2 months already, and it's getting a sister soon. I've fired .410 slugs, 45LC reloads, .410 buckshot and birdshot(#4s) in several range sessions so far, and I'm very happy with it. I'm looking at the brushed stainless with a 6" barrel next.
    Got mine for under $425.
    Nobody out here can sell 'em, they're SO ugly!

    The "Judge" is chambered for either the 2 1/2 inch or the 3 inch .410 shell.. the shells are at length after being shot, the crimp opens up and makes the 3 inch a three inch..

    THIS IS INCORRECT


    This is the new model that is supposed to be released sometime this year. Do not attempt to shoot 3" shells in the only current available model.

    I agree with ECC. But nowhere on the gun or box or any of the paperwork that came with mine does it say for 2.5" only. The only place that it stated this is on their website. I can see how someone can get confused.

    IMO, Galco makes some of best holsters available...and they have one for the 3" Judge now.

    I had El Paso Saddlery make one It's very nice!
    It's a fun gun to shoot!
