I've made lots of country drives through upstate NY and there were always an abundance of people with signs out front "Maple Syrup For Sale". I never saw any for sale up in the Alexandria Bay area where I lived but I saw plenty east of Fort Drum before I stopped driving to my favorite gun store when it closed down.

See if you can get ahold of some "grade B". Thicker, more flavorful. Most of it is shipped to bulk food processors where maple flavor is needed in their processing. I only know of one retailer that has it for retail sale..it's called "Trader Joes". Gotta be others out there. Good stuff. Joe

I WOULD NEVER BUY PURE MAPLE SYURP!

The reason is I make make my own.

    Couldn't do without it

A few years ago I would make 50 or 60 gallons and sell some

Now I make only 8 - 10 gallons use some myself give the rest away makes nice Christmas gifts for the family members that have everything

The syrup you get later in the season is much darker and it has a much stronger maple taste. I belive thats what givette is talking about.

    It's all good!

Well then, Johnny-Gunz. I would like very much to be on that list, this CHRISTMAS.And i do believe B-Grade, would be better as a "topping". Such as "hot-cakes/Pancakes" Waffels, and the like. The A-Grade, will be saved for "cooking" ie. Beans,Cornbread,Etc.
If not , i will certainly have my oldest(living) brother ,who, BTW IS, the ORIGINAL "BIG DADDY". Keep his eyes open for some B/C grade.
    Thanks 4 the tips men![;)]
