I'm not movin

From my profile you can tell I live in Idaho. I have a CCW, but do not make it a practice to "carry". I may decide to though.[:D]
I have been watching, with great interest, the posts regarding what you carry?... what is under your pillow?... what is stashed around your house to keep the bad guys away? After reading the posts, I am now, very afraid of moving anywhere near where these posters live.[V]

You must live in an unimaginable crappy, dangerous place. Or..Is there a "fraidy cat" factor involved? Or...is there a poulation of "wanna be cowboys" out there? I am curious.[?]

BTW, I have lived in Oakland, CA, Vallejo, CA, and Washington, DC just to name a few places that may not be the "azzhole of the world", but you can see it from there. I am amazed that I survived.

    $56 USD and about two days for background check in Bonneville County Idaho.

    To add another couple cliches:
    better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6.
    better to have and not need, than to need and not have. I carry very little cash, but have credit cards with a limit of about $30,000 on them. It's more likely that I'll shoot somebody than put a brand new automobile on my credit cards, but I carry them just the same.
    I carry a gun because a cop is too heavy.
    I live in South Bend, Indiana, the town with the highest crime rate in the state. Every week, there are several armed robberies, unarmed robberies, car thefts, and dead people found. I say dead people because the murderers are rarely arrested. I don't know why.
    I asked my dad why he doesn't carry. He said because he doesn't go places that crimes occur. He has that luxury in his area. I go to the bank in broad daylight, but there was a robbery at the bank on Thursday morning.
    I'd sure feel stupid if I got killed without a gun in my hand.

    To me, packing a concealed carry weapon is like packing a credit card. It's nice to know it's in my pocket even though I'll probably never need it.

    Not knowing what particular posts you refer to, or if your comment is a "generalization", I simpy say to you that there is a little thing called "preparedness" which many Americans ascribe to.

    Your view of "cowboys", "fraidy cats", or your seemingly liberal fear of being near gun-bearing citizens, seems mildly disturbing to me.

    You probably should move to Kali again, or maybe Chicago or NY City. You'd probably feel more comfortable there.[;)]

    Just to shine a little light, I was an LEO in Alaska. I am not against anyone owning guns. I grew up on a ranch and rode pro rodeo for several years and I don't even come close to being a liberal.
    I am concerned about getting shot by some dumb snit who has watched too much TV and feels he has to arm himself to the hilt.
    BTW, in your profile you indicated the you are in Law enforcement.
    Are you by any chance, a "mall ninja"? If so, I guess I understand.




    The numbers do not lie Flyin Paulie...In every state that has enacted concealled carry laws, the violent crime rate has dropped by an average of 22%. It looks like your concerns are unsubstantiated.

    In my county, you have to have some kind of proof that you've had some firearms training (IE: Hunter's Saftey Class, Military Experience, Basic NRA Pistol class, etc)...then you just submit your application.

    Idaho honors every state in the union's CCW though. When I moved here, the sheriff dept told me to "just keep my WV CCW until it expired...no sense in wasting $$"

    The real reason you need to move is the vast majority of accidents happen in or near the home. You need to get away from there before you get hurt.

    Yeah, I made up the bit about me being a cop and you found me out...I am a mall ninja, at least I think I am. Is a mall ninja somebody who is a "wanna be" cop and who is all, like tactical and stuff? If so, that's me.

    What is it about this that you understand? I can't wait to hear the answer.

    Now that my secret is discovered and exposed, i'm ashamed and will quietly slink away.

    And you go ahead and be concerned about the gun-owning "dumb snits" out there. They have been slaughtering 100's of their neighbors for many years because they arm themselves and watch TV.

    Oddly enough, I can't find either of them in the Constitution or Bill of Rights. I hear no criticism of people having them.
    Yet we see criticism of people exercising their Second Amendment Rights.
    The mere act of actually EXERCISING a basic Right seems to inordinately disturb some people. One expects that of Shumer/Fiendstein/Kennedy..Elites all.
    What disturbs ME...is gun owners that ACT like those Socialist crap.

    Now, if we take ONLY the numbers of decent citizens shooting other people accidentally or delibertly..that would be a tiny fraction of the numbers killed by vicious animals that roam the streets.
    So the irrational fear of other decent citizens owning guns would appear to be a bit..psychotic..don't you think ?
    And the fact that those citizens chose to discuss the best this gun or that one, or the best way to carry that piece would seem to me to be a healthy sign of a inquiring mind..seeking to discover if there is a better way to do something.

    Criticizing those people seems to me to be a sign of a disturbed mentality..perhaps an indication of a profound trust in government owning guns..and much less trust in average citizens.
    A distinct jab at the common sense of the Founders.who held the opposite viewpoint.
    Methinks that when one holds the viewpoint of the poster of this thread..
    The protestations that "I believe common citizens have a right to own firearms " holds about as much water as does George Bushes' belief in the Second.None.
