Nutcracker Trivia, Thanksgiving Tip
Yesterday the wife needed a cup of walnuts for a cake and I was to supply them.
The shells were very hard and the nutcracker opened too wide to get controlled force on the large nuts. Using the nutcracker as a hammer and a cutting board as an anvil the job went much faster. A sharp rap, like a pulled punch, did a much better, more controlled job.
A small hammer might look funny in the nut bowl though.
I suspect it would also work well on hazel nuts and pecans.

Best way i have ever found, ia a small bench vise.I guess that'd look weird in the nut-bowl too..[:p] 0
