Al Gore has several fixtures in his mansion that hold multiples of them, but in his defense he has had dimmer switches installed.

If it is a Mercury Vapor or a High Pressure Sodium bulb like we use in light plants.

It is useless if it is touched with bare hands. Kind of like placing aluminum foil in a microwave.

    WTH does that mean??[?][?]
And sneeky, i'd box it up at the wife's diabetic supply house, with the "peanuts" and mark it FRAGILE... Although i'm sure the USPS would find a way to bust it...

It almost looks like it would fit my yard light. I just had the electric company man out here yesterday replacing the bulb in mine....again. (They are in charge of maintenance) He replaced it a couple weeks ago. I told him it wasn't bright enough. Every since they changed to the new lights, they ain't worth the filament they are made from. I told him I could get more light out of a spot light then those new lights give off, but they don't fit.

How wide is the metal screw in part? (whatever they call it)

I'll bet it would make a great pop sound if you hit it.

Here's another pic, comparing it to a "regular" light bulb.Might work in your street light..

it is metal halide, hps has a tube inside, mv is coated, you need a proper ballast according to the wattage to run it

is there any markings on it?

This is only if its a quartz lamp, which I can tell by looking it is not. The base is called a mogul base, need better pics of the inside to tell if its High Pressurd Sodium, Metal Halide, or Mercury Vapor.

Looks to be an incandescent bulb. Which is your regular everyday joe type of bulb, albeit a bigger base, probably either 300W or 500W, 120V. Find a base that it will screw into, hook up 120V to it and you will have a bedtime reading light.[;)][:D]

Geez, I guess you have to pick them up at the factory if you needed them. Yep, they're made in China.

Saw one of those at work a couple of weeks ago. The plant engineer is on an energy conservation kick. He found it as a night light at the shop behind the batch house. It was a 120 volt 1000 watt bulb! That bulb was drawing over 8 amps!!

Many electric motors draw less electricity than that one bulb.

I talked to the power guy, and since they are responsible for maintenance on the light, they won't let me put a bulb in it. I think it's the fact that they pay for the electricity to run the thing, and they don't want to pay the $1,000 a month it would take to run it. I also believe that is the reason the bulbs they use now aren't worth.........****....[}:)]
    Thanks anyway.
