Bizzare range session ...
I've never heard of anything as stupid/bizzare as this - anybody got a clue as to why this guy was booted? I don't.

The indoor range I frequented increased the price of their reloaded ammo so much I started asking why? I explained that I could buy factory ammo, not 10% powder reduced reloads, for less, midwayusa.com has 9mm blazer brass for $9.99 a box of 50 or $99.90 NO Tax for 500. They were selling range reloads for $125.99 + tax for 500. My questions were based on economics and why I could buy Factory for less than reloads considering they were 10% underloaded and you could pick up your brass but could no take the range reloaded brass at those prices.
Without breaking any range rules My membership was canceled and I was asked to leave. I quietly packed up my bag and as I was leaving asked If I was welcome back and the reply was profanity laced diatribe. As I walked out the door I continued to be cursed with profanity by a female employee, the manager, who followed me out to my car harassing me along the way and intimidating me by standing so close I could smell her breath and barely open my door. the young male empolyee, a former cop, then gets involved acting bravada, throwing out chest and threatening to "kick my ass" as I pulled out of the parking lot. I did not play into their baiting and did not reply in kind. It was beneath me. They were acting like uneducated street thugs, teenage punks. It was unbelieveable. A real twilight zone moment.
Needless to say I came home and called my CC company and asked to reverst the charge, they said they wouldn't when I left asking If I was welcome to return or was 86'd, for my years membership, I just signed up for another year and this was my first visit.
Has anyone ever had such a bizzare range session? There is another indoor range near by I'll start going to. And..they not only have a lower yearly membership fee...They also get the same reloaded ammo and only charge $95.99 for 500 rounds. Considering the frequency that I shoot 100-200 rounds 1-2 times a week it is a substantial savings. I probably shoot 1,000 rounds every 4-6 weeks and spent over $1,700 just on the reloads @ the other less friendly customer orientated range also the $150 membership & targets.

And please, NAMES AND ADDRESSES. We all need to know who to avoid. I've never treated a customer like that and knowing my lack of impulse control would've probably been scrapping out in the parking lot with "Mr. Machismo" since I have no sense anyway.

Sounds like stupidity and nothing else. Though, private business has the right to refuse business to anybody for any reason. If true, it is indeed bizarre, I have encountered some rude or ignorant behavior before at ranges or gun stores, but nothing to this extent, besides, well, depending on the state, one has to be REALLY dumb as to threaten someone in this manner in or near a shooting range.0 -
The store has a right to sell their ammo at whatever price they want- but you as a consumer have a right to not buy that ammo and to question them, as well as a right to courteous treatment.
I stopped going to a local range when they mandated no handloads of any sort, and only either: ammo they verify as ok and factory loaded or ammo they sell. For twice as much as I can get it online. But I was paying by the day, not a membership so I just don't go there anymore.0 -
I suspect that there is a WHOLE lot more to this story than the one-sided view that we were told!
BTW: We have an indoor range in MD that requires you to buy their ammo at higher than retail prices. I have never shot there.0 -

I've seen employees/owners of a local shop chase someone out of the store that asked about doing interstate transfer of several rifles.
What made me really confused is that the guy had inherited them, and just wanted them shipped down. I can understand a dealer being upset about someone purchasing something (esp. new) and asking for a transfer, but an inheritance?....0 -

Assuming the story is true (its second hand, effectively hearsay at this point) the shooter clearly touched a sore spot there.
The place is probably having trouble making ends meet, and has to sell overpriced reloads to survive.
Its *perfectly reasonable* for a range to sell reloaded ammo at higher costs than a bulk warehouser like Midway, which can buy it by the pallet and get by with lower margins.
Its also fair for them to sell slightly overpriced ammo to those who don't bring their own. The owner is entitled to make a profit, of course.
But tossing a paying customer out for a gripe makes no sense. The owner of the range simply should have said, "We can't match those prices and make a profit, sorry", or (worse) "If you don't like our ammo prices, there's the door".
If the owner is foolish enough to throw good customers out the door, well. . .that's a self correcting problem, isn't it?0 -

I've had similar problems at an indoor range near my home and I don't go there anymore. The owner of the place is a flaming moron. He and his employees routinely smart-mouth their customers and try to demean people who ask questions about the guns they have for sale. They walk around with pistols stuck in their waisbands holding eye contact with everyone far longer than they should....like they're looking for a fight. My confrontation came when I finally had a stomachfull. I told the owner that if he was half as smart as he thinks he is, his brain, such as it is, would catch on fire. He said to me, F#@& YOU. I told him that I don't swing that way, but maybe one of his airhead employees could take care of him. Adios Fundillo!!!0 -

ABSOLUTELY Zip. If you can email the gentleman, get all the info you can, and post it up... The public needs the "411" on those bums.
And NO , i have never herd of anything like that. Not for just complaining about ammo prices... Totally uncalled for..I feel sorry for the guy, and i don't even know him..[V]0
