Tanker conversions
LF's auction got me wondering. Is there a company that does tanker conversions for the Garand?

I've got a cut off saw. How much do you want to pay me? J/K.
You should buy LF's. It's a sharp gun.0 -
You may be out of luck. Smith Enterprises used to make a "tanker," but I believe they have stopped doing so. You may talk someone at Springfield or Fulton into doing one for you. There are conversion kits available for do-it-yourselfers, but there's a trick or two involved - for one, the op-rod needs to be bent just right to prevent binding. 0 -
Federal Ordnance in El Monte California used to, but the are long gone.
If you want one bad enough, try running an ad in the San Gabriel Valley Tribune.

Check this guy out. He may be doing conversions again. Quite a few folks like his work.

Thank you Cutiegirl!!! I like the Tanker myself....poor Larry asked me if he could "bid" on this one. (I said shure) He was standing in here with me and holding the gun and leans toward me kind of squinting and says...." MMMMmmmmm??? I bit FOUR-FIFTY!"
Poor guy was outbid long ago and I don't have the heart to tell him.0
