Never had a chargeback. Everyone is happy with their purchase.

It's a PITA for the retailer but if he won't work with you on the item then you have to do what you have to do. Online sales are particularly risky because there isn't a signed slip for the purchase so the retailer really doesn't have a leg to stand on. What's done is done, I wouldn't worry about it.

this is about that processor i posted about earlier this month, i quit working in my mobo after 20 minutes, i sent it back for them to test, they received it on the 9th, told me they had no way of testing it, and i would have to wait till they did, that was ten days ago, i have no ideal how long they expect me to wait for it, i called them, and was trying to work out a swap for a processor that was 40 bucks cheaper with me taking the loss, but the guy was rude as heck, my bank did a full charge back, i offered to send them a check for the original {over priced}cost of shipping, and they guy sends a email all in caps complaining that i owe them 35.00 bucks for the charge back, and i have to pay the technician that tested it, i have no ideal where these people come from

Seems to be the way of most many business nowdays. They supposedly
bear no responsibilty, and do whatever they can to suck money from ya.[V]

It's his fault for having bad customer service and he knows it. That's why he's so angry. Judging by what happened to you I'd bet chargebacks are a regular thing for him and he is getting tired of paying for them. Once he racks up enough of them maybe he will start treating customers with a little more regard, so in a way you did all his future customers a favor. If it were me I'd tell him where he could put his $35.

In all the years I have been accepting credit cards I have never had a chargeback because when someone is unhappy with a product I do everything I can to make it right, up to refunding thier money plus shipping both ways if that's what they want. Anyone can get a defective product or make a mistake in a listing, but how the merchant responds to the customer can make all the difference in whether they come back or not.

Read over everything before getting into it very much with him and make certain there was no written responsibility clauses where you would be charged even IF things didn't work. The shipping is usually something that is "non-refundable"....but I have never seen anyone say credit card cahrges were the responsibility of the customer when the sale was terminated. It sounds like they have a bad plan with whoever they have the contarct with and they may just now be finding that out. Unless you are dealing with someone with some authority (like an owner or at least a manager) I wouldn't worry about it. Make certain they don't use your info in later months to bill you.
