Watched a show on the BAJA races.....WOW!
It makes you want to go get some kind of dune buggy and get out there.....1,000 miles!!!! I think it was on Encore.

the rocks are like marbles and the ground is hard. sand everywhere and so hot your feet burn if you stand in one place very long...fixing flats. the ground eats tires. try doing it w/o gps and old maps! man, its terrifying at night. valleys come out of nowhere and swallow you up. 0 -
The part that really got me....was the spectators....lined up along the road like out-of-control weren't sliding and jumping past them on dirt!!! They look like bowling pins at the end of a lane. Idiots getting the "full" race experience. 0 -

We ran in 76, 78 and 79. We caught a lot of rocks - don't remember
any money flying around. Days were hot, the women were hotter, the
roads were dusty and the cerveza was cold and the night was absolute
hell. ... other than that ... it was a blast just to survive and finish.[8D]0 -
the Baja races are unbelievable even as a spectator. i have always wanted to race in it but you need lots of money and a big crew. the mexicans have been known to sabotage the track and injure drivers badly though. 0 -
