collection being sold....may be some coolness SOON
I had a two page list given to me today at the store. A police officer who has served for 37 years is in bad health and the range master is helping him sell his collection. When I called to inquire about the guns he said he still had "some" of them but he was going to meet a collector and would call me back tonite....
I HATE this feeling. In my head....(Collector..go away!) I have explained how I list things on line and I may be able to help him get a better price than what he is getting from these people. Its all a matter of what he needs more....a quick turn around for cash or a little longer and get more money.
Several high end 1911s.....Les Baers, Kimbers, and a couple of Springfields. Rock River, Colt AR15s with extras, Kahr, Sigs, Walthers, Brownings, Remingtons, several Rugers and at least four of these guns have Swarovski Scopes.
What do you think a McMillan 50cal sniper rifle will sell for...with a nice Swarovski scope in a custom metal case (including ammo also??)
When I think about a retired police officer in bad health I really want to get the best I can for him.....and HATE to think of what people have snagged up at a steal.[V]

you have me dizzy with lust ....
i'm panting over here0 -
offer better than the others and put them up here! 0 -
I would just buy them....and WILL if it looks like I need to. The only thing about a deal like this is I would like to get a retired policeman the best I can do for him.....and I take a percentage instead of making out like a bandit.
Kimber Super America with Swarovski scope....Sako P94S with Swarovski 6-18x50!!!! On the list...I wish he would call!!!!!0 -
well... it's either put them up for a low price and they go fast, or put them up for a higher price and wait longer. ain't no way around that. 0 -

Buy the out right and then donate the "extra" profit back to him or a fund for him. May help you on your taxes and helps him. Plus it would just make you feel good and that is worth a lot.0 -
I spoke with the person who is selling the collection for him. The majority is gone already. A lot were sold at a bargain to fellow officers and the rest seem to be great deals...but HIGH ticket items. I know of a few things I am certain on what I can pay....but the rest are hit or miss.
I left it up to them to decide. I told them an amount I can pay for the few I know I will be able to get....and told them the guns I know are good internet guns of the ones he knew he had. I explained to him that I was willing to buy whatever he had left OR he could let me list them and I would get 10% of what we sold them for.
Bad news is......the person selling the guns for this person is going to be gone all of next week. I won't know anything for over a week!0 -
Feel free to end this Ruger now. [:D]
Never mind.0 -
Oh....I think I may need to save my money for the end of next week (I may be selling a few things this week to get ready for this!) 0 -
like you dont already know...[:o)][:I][:p] 0 -
With police officers I really don't know if I will have ANYTHING of this collection. They are a close knit group and if any of them want to buy something before this guy gets back from the school he is going to....I won't be getting any of them. I may just go by the bank and grab some cash "just in case." 0 -
I love cop's collections. It's amazing what ends up in the trunk as 'evidence' that never makes it to court.
Hope ya get some good stuff, LF.

...Whatever the owner is happy with is all that matters. If the owner wants to turn them quick for a lower price(?) than "hold out", that's up to him really.
...Why imply collectors are going to give the guy less, because they're "collectors"??
...EVERYBODY attempts to get the best "deal" they can on ANYTHING they purchase, don't you?
...There is a difference in attempting to "rip-off" someone vs attempting to get a "good deal" you know. Similar to calling Mr. weekend "shoot everything that moves", a hunter.
...Collectors and you in competition to "make a buck", what is so wrong with that?...[;)]

I hate to say it But I can't get a firearm GB With fees and shipping they always go higher than @ local shows.... There are however a couple of local guys (50 miles or less) that may ease that problem in the future as it will save fees and shipping on a few and one dude does put up the stuff I like every once in awhile.. And in fact, after this months round of semi annual of big bills.....I plan to do just that. 0 -
Got in touch with him and I will be getting two "big ticket" items for certain...and if he has anything left after this weekend he will have me put it on line for him.
I know there is a difference between a collector and a buyer who is taking advantage of a situation.
I just worry when I hear about anyone selling guns....especially a large collection. You may get 75% of what a gun is worth if you are lucky....but most of the time you hear of people really getting taken advantage of.0
