The only extension cord I could find.....some mechanical type monster thing of my hujsband's.
Springers have a different kind of hair growth than Cocker Spaniels....I promise you that this very dog will have fuffy long hair before the end of summer.
I don't normally clip her ears....but because of a "barbeque insident" and a child not putting their plate up like they should....it just HAD to be done.0 -

I've got a Cock-a-poo that needs a haircut bad. I did it last year but was worse than shearing a sheep. This year I'm going to a dog groomer to get her straighten out. 0 -

What type of clippers do you use? The few that I have tried won't cut through butter. I thought that I just let it get too long. Purdys isnt any longer though. Is there a certain technique? 0 -
When the kids were little I helped a dog groomer not far from my home....a standard cut for a Cocker Spaniel is $35 and she charges about half of what it can cost to have things done to a "medium" sized dog.
Purdy is so good I just do it myself.....MOST of the time. When we want the full-out job I take her to Miss Sandy's doggy parlor.
It includes a good bath....clipping ( a lot better than I do )...scent gland expressed....and toes clipped. She gets a bow on each ear to top it off.....they don't last long.0 -
They are just general everyday MEN's haircut clippers from the evil Wal Mart.....Conair (I believe.)
Funny thing.....Larry didn't know but he shared the clippers for a couple of haircuts until I bought two pair.
They cost about $20....which saves a TON of money compared to having it done.
I just run along with the hair's growth without any sheild and the blade turned up to the longest cut. Just make certain they don't get hot....and don't pull the hair with the clippers....if it doesn't just fall off come at that place from another angle. If you have mats....run the bottom blade of some shears under the mat and cut it in half. If its cut into sections the shaver will take care of it with no problem.
Just remember the more you do it the better they will be and the first few times is a PAIN....just don't PULL or hurt them and it will get better.0
