Sellers should NOT have to be detectives!!!!!
I have recieved a check....it is a company check with a business name and NO PERSON's information on it whatsoever. There is an unreadable signature....but the total is for the amount of the Marlin Goose Gun auction. So, I guess it is for that gun????
Then....I get a faxed FFL also with absolutely NO information on it at all....no person's name, gun information, auction number, NOTHING!!!! I really prefer the gun info....but I HATE faxed FFLs and prefer not to deal with them at all.
In my letter that I send out to the winners of my auctions I stress the fact that I like to have the FFL sent to my address along with the payment. But some people like to think that because it is acceptable to some that I should just take them......whatever.
Just venting....I know some of you are just as aggrivated about these things as I am....and I swear the only thing on these idiots side is the feedback system and the fact that they are too far away to strangle!!!

this brings to mind something my current transfering ffl holder told me on my last transfer, he wanted to know why he sent a copy of his ffl to an individual that I bought from stating that the atf told him he could not give a copy to anyone who was not a dealer as this is illegal that anyone shipping a firearm had to be a dealer, no individuals were allowed to ship firearms so his ffl goes out seperate, how do I explain to him that it is ok for non-licensees to ship to dealers? 0 -
Try selling some thing big like a cannon. Capital letters must pick up, will not ship. Then ssome idiot in whinamucia Canada will bid and win. Is trying to make arrsngements to freight it. No freighter will ship cannons in Canada. Lots of luck. 0 -

Faxed FFLs could be a good idea. It just didn't work with that black background on the # box. I'm get a renewal 04-01-07 and I know they changed the background. Maybe that will help. E-mail attachments would be clear but with Photo Shop, they could be bogus.

You don't, save your breath. Unfortunately the ATF has already gotten to him. Just like most postal clerks, a lot of ATF agents actually know very little about their laws/rules concerning firearms. You'd be suprised at what I've heard come out of their mouths, spoken as, "this is the law, set in stone". However, when a gun dealer has a field inspection and gets their butts chewed about anything, law or no law, they generally do whatever it takes to keep from getting that same chewing again. I believe this is the reason we hear of so many "hard to get along with, he don't know the law", dealer stories around here. Misinformation or scolding from the ATF. Lets face it, no dealer wants to get into it with the ATF over a $10-30 transfer.

The faxes aren't a problem.....when a little TEEEENY bit of info is given when a fax is sent. I have things I need to order, phone calls I have to make, computer mess to deal with, a stack of more than 20 background checks to go over each day, the random thug who wants to hold every friggin gun in the building before he buys a 40 cal Hi Point, trades to figure out, people to help pick out things, and in the middle of everything I have to stop and figure out just who sent money for what and what the heck is this fax out of nowhere for???
It may take five minutes to figure it out....but why....on earth can't people just write....FOR FRED SANFORD...or...MARLIN GOOSE GUN?0 -

If it can give cause to get arrested or end up on the evening news don't take any chances. Make them fill everything out correctly and dot all the i's and cross the t's. 0 -
When I buy one that is not C&R and I need my FFL to transfer it for me my money order and his lic dont go out together,he does like to mail my money order and he wants to send his FFL so I write a note and send it with the Money Order explaining what its for and that they will recieve a FFL from my dealer,I give his name and business name and all info on me..I know its a pain but he only charges me $10..so far no problems but I do explain it very well to the seller 0 -
Funds and FFL's without identifying information go into a folder and are held until I am contacted by the sender (if contact info is not enclosed). I have only had one internet transaction not claimed in ten years. Eventually you will be contacted by the purchasing party.
No need to get upset over something so easily handled.0 -
And some people wonder why I ask for a printed copy of our messages back and forth to eachother, or why I write the auction number on the MO and FFL.... 0 -
I run a copy of my FFL through my printer and it prints FILE COPY and the auction number, a quick description, and the name, address, email and phone number of buyer in blue type at bottom. Then I'll sign it red or blue ink. Print out the envelope and tell the buyer to include his auction number on his check and mail all together. All this for $20 when he come to do the transaction after his firearm arrives. Simple and Foolproof. 0 -
Normally I only get a little aggrivated over these frustrating things.....but when you have a lot going on with the store and then about five internet things coming off together and some of the information you need to get things done is missing.....it leads to a bit of a melt-down.
Its like having a giant trig exam to study for but first you have to balance your checkbook .....BUT....because of some ATM charge you can't get it done.0
