FFL's or anyone that might have a idea
What is the markup on a firearm? More importantly, how much is a Barrett 82A1/m107 wholesale? Just wondering because I am thinking of applying for a license to more less just run a little operation, mostly just special order type business, but have a few items and accs. it stock, yes and ammo to.

This isn't a really good way to start what you THINK you want to try....and not really something you ask dealers about. Its like going to Nascar and saying "Who do I see about getting one of these nifty cars....and what kind of gas does it take? Just who do I see about getting paid for my collection of stickers I plan to stick on my car?"
Guns aren't like anything else.....they are worth what people are willing to pay....and you can go to jail and lose everything you own if you don't do everything right. Get a business license and an FFL, call some distributors and after you make one thousand phone calls you will stock a few guns.....none of which will be a Barrett of any kind for a very long time if ever....and after some time passes when you have built up a good customer base and things seem to be rolling along you may want to stock something like the 50 cal you ask about. This is when you will realize that you will make about the same amount of profit on the 50 cal that is nearly impossible to get as you will a Remington 1100 or a Hi Point 9mm carbine.0 -

I'm sure Locust Fork or another FFL can order you one on a cost-plus basis. That way you don't have to go through the hassle of getting the FFL yourself. My FFL here in Idaho charges me $10.00 plus his landed cost. I think he's very reasonable, but you have to consider FFLs have different operating costs and, thus, charge different rates. You would be way ahead dollar wise to just go to your dealer and buy the Barret you want for your Christmas present than to do what I think you plan on doing. 0 -
The last Barret I had it took over 7 months to get and runs just a bit over $9,500.00. Funny cause I think the McMillan I sold for 1/3rd that price is ten times the gun the Barrett is. I sold a Barrett about a year ago for $5,000 and had the opportunity to shoot that one....not impressed. As an investment a 50 cal is a good idea, but the Barrett name is driving the price WAY over what it should be for the quality I have seen.

When you add in the cost of an 01 FFL, a business license, meeting zoning requirements, tax ID #s, fooling with the ATF (BTW, dealers license for personal acquistions are NOT approved) etc etc etc, that Barret will be the most expensive bargain you ever bought. 0 -
The markup on guns is very, very small- usually in the 10 -15% range. Many dealers make more on used guns than new ones. 0 -
Plus, you have to be over 14 to apply for an FFL. 0 -

Not differing with me- differing with the ATF F 5310.12 (aka Form 7) the application for a Dealers FFL. The personal use question is on there. [xx(]0 -
Uncle Joe better not get caught....it is against the ATF FFL guidelines to use an FFL for purchasing without intending to sell. 0
