I need your opinon.....carry gun....
Right now, my compact carry guns are...
A Kel Tec P3AT and Taurus PT111.
My brother said he would like to buy the PT111. I told him that if he stopped chewing tobacco, that I would cut him a deal on it.
Tori likes the gun because of it's conventional safety for when she carries it. I personally want something a little smaller in width.
I'm leaning towards a new Kahr CW40 or P40. She doesn't like the fact that they don't have safeties. I know the Kahr is the better gun, how do I convince her of that?

It'll be a carry gun for me too in warm weather. I want something that will be lighter and thinner in profile as well.
I have given thought to an airweight 38, but I'm just not sold on it yet.0 -

Got this for my wife and carry it myself sometime when I can get it away from her. Don't need a safety and .357 punch in a lightwieght package. Foolproof for self defense.

If you don't like the revolver and are concerned about safety, this would be the other recommendation. The P7 has a squeeze cocker which means it cannot be fired until you squeeze it. Something about the squeeze makes me shoot better and it ain't going off by accident. .9mm.

Kahr's are double action. That in itself is a safety of sorts. If a child were to get a hold of it and have the ability to pull the trigger, it would fire. There are no conventional safeties on it. But for carry, it's not like it will accidentally fire if it's dropped, etc.
I love HK's, but aside from the P7, they make nothing for tight carry. I have a full size CZ that I'd never get rid of. It's just too big for carry in warm weather.0 -

When someone carries a weapon for protection they need to be confident in it and comfortable with it. If she feels that way about the Taurus PT111 and since much of personal protection is about confidence, why would you try to talk her out of that gun? 0 -
i actually have the same taurus and won't give it up. it has a long trigger pull, but that's okay. 0 -
I have a Beretta 9000s 9MM I carry as a back up gun, its not much bigger than a .380 with 12+1 RDS of 9MM +P. It comes with a spacer or you can buy it I cant remember? But you can use a Model 92 15 RD Mag if you wish but it makes the grip much longer. I think they have been discontinued but you can still find them. They are great guns for concealment, accuracy and reliability. 0 -

I agree with you whole-heartedly, but she's said a hundred times that she hates the Taurus. She only wants the safety. I told her that the DAO Kahr needs no safety. It's a carry gun, and that's it.0 -

The P7 is available in .40 and .45 as I recall. Cost would be prohibitive on those I imagine.

She will defineatly feel the recoil off of a lightweight .40. I have the 9mm version and it is not bad but bad enough.

The only thing that I can think of that has a safety in a 40 cal....that is small but not rediculous is the Taurus PT140. Kel tec made a 40 cal a few years ago. I have one of those at the store right now. It doesn't have a safety and is just like the older 9mm in size. AMT also has a 40 cal.....its been a while since I've seen one of them though. You can get little hand cannons if you get a derringer....but I can't see anyone liking to shoot them. The 380 is a good calibur and there is SO much more available. The Colts....Seacamp....AMT....Kel tec....Taurus are just a few.
You know you can get a safety installed in a Glock at the factory. Its pretty neat to see.0
