Pride goeth before the fall...
My 6 year old is playing football this year. He has been excited about it since he was old enough to walk. The league he is in is 7,8,& 9 YO and he is the smallest kid out there, but he is trying to learn and is adjusting to the contact as best as he can. He is very fast so the coach decided to try him at runing back.
So he goes through practice and does OK, mostly because he can run faster than the other kids on his team. Then we get to the game.
He runs several plays and does OK. Then he runs a sweep around the end and a big kid from the other team just unloaded on him. An NFL level hit and I thought my son was gone...thought that would end his desire to play football. He jumps up...NOT CRYING....and runs off the field with the ball...holds it up to the coach and says "see coach, I didn't fumble"
I am so proud of him it kills me.

I think my kid is gonna be a ninja... The way he does flips and cartwheels is awesome, I watch my girlfriends belly roll every night, It is wild to see her stomach jump move and do all kinds of crazy stuff. It is even wilder to see his hand imprint in her stomach. 0 -

My son has played football since the 4th grade. He is in 7th grade now. This is the first year he's been able to carry the ball because of weight restrictions 4-6. He has taken some good shots this year but hasn't lost the ball yet. He took one from 2 players. The sound of the collision was intense. When he got up, you could tell that it knocked the wind out of him but, he walked back to the huddle. That's when his teammates told him that one of the guys was still down. That's when he finally bent over. He has caught a couple of TD catches this year. He has his last game Sat. then a week off then it is on to basketball practice. 0 -
My son has played since he was 6. He likes to be with his friends and they all sign up each yr....he isn't one of the best players on the team but he is used on every play on defence. He is a quiet, careful little boy....until he lines up for the play. At this age the bigger kids aren't the ones people need to worry over....its the ones about the size of my son. They move fast and hit hard. My son "rang the bell" of another boy during practice and it really made my son upset. He was just about in tears over hurting the boy. I told him that there is a chance everyone takes when they play football....and that if it ever happens to him to just listed for the "chink chink" of me jumping the chain link fence then the "thud" when I hit the ground and I will be out on the field. He was laughing at the whole idea of me trying to jump a fence which seemed to make him feel better. Go Hornets!
