I have one. I love it. It was going to be a present for my dad, but I decided I liked it to much. I'll just get him a tie.
The fit and build quality is great. It shoots well also. I've shot Colts, Bushmasters, Armalites, and Professional Ordnance. I think this is the best shooting one. I paid 915 plus tax and they gave me a free magazine. I came with a hard case and one mag.
It's the one with the scope.0 -

I sell a lot of ALL KINDS of AR-15s....and I bought the Smith and Wesson for my husband when I was in the market for one. The Smith does have a bayonet lug, flat top, removable handle, great site system, three point sling swivels, step down barrel, collapsable stock, good muzzle break, all for about $900 wholesale. They come in a hard case and should have two mags and a sling included. They are great shooters and don't care about what ammo you use. All around good guns. 0 -

Colt ARs aren't as good as they used to be. The match target was I last had in the store was a bit of a let down. Go for the older ones if you insist on a Colt. 0 -

From what I have seen, and I am no AR expert, the Bushmasters are pretty nice guns, better than Colt. I also like the real gas operation option, but it is not available (yet) on the Modular Carbine, which is the style I favor.
If I am going to pay in excess of a grand, at dealer cost, for a rifle, it is darn sure going to be exactly as I want it.0 -
If you grind the name off the lower and all the other markings on any of the more popular AR15 out there, you would not be able to tell a difference.
There are slight differences felt in the trigger, with Colt having the worst fire control group (trigger) of any of them. DPMS makes a great trigger. RRA makes an even better 2 stage trigger.
After assembeling AR15 off and on for more then 15 years I have came to the conclusion I want a blank No Name AR that I assembled myself.
Thats what I want. I could care less who put their name on the receiver. They all buy 80% of their parts from the same contractors anyway. Except Olympic Arms. They are the only AR manufacturer that makes 100% of their AR line.
I guess I never did answer the S$W AR question. I have had two of them and the only difference was the name that was stamped on the receiver.0 -
