AGAIN....I am complaining about FAXED.....FFLs!!!!
This has been a busy couple of weeks for me and I have a lot of auctions coming off line right now. This means in the middle of the usual store responsibilities I have these internet guns to worry over.
With these guns I have to recieve an FFL and payment then I send the gun out to the FFL. Sounds easy.....right.
Well today I have gotten four faxed FFLs and not one has a customer's name, the gun information, not even an auction number on the FFL. I have to trace back and send messages to each of the auctions that have ended just to figure out what goes to who!
Two are from Texas....two are from Gander Mountain....are the two from Gander Mountain for one transaction and they just sent it multiple times....or do I have two guns going to different people using the same place??? AAAHHHH!!!!! I have a headache!

Sorry.
I did have a bit of a laugh over it, but not in an evil way.0 -
you might want to put on your auctions that you need name, aution # ect. on the copy of the ffl, some time I forget to.....lol...... 0 -
I have a "form letter" that I send out to the auction winners. It about three paragraphs long and the last one is specifically about how much I HATE and DREAD faxed FFLs. Nobody reads anymore....do they? 0 -

Just for fun....here is a copy of my message I send to the winners of the auctions:
Hi there......Congratulations on winning the auction on Gun Broker!!!! I have a little bit of information that will help me get the gun to you a little quicker. I am (my name) and I am on line at my house......but in real life I am in a gun store every day. Since my internet account is out of my house the address is registered to my home and not the gun store. The reason for this is internet charges for my home were $35 and the store is $170 (per month!)
So, this is why I am doing things this way.
Since I am at the store everyday.....I ask for payment and FFLs to be sent to me at the gun store. If you want to send things to my home address it is fine.....but PLEASE do not get signature conformation if you do......because I am NEVER home and it will be sent back to you. The store address is:
(This is where the store address is entered in the message)
I like to recieve the FFL with the payment if possible.....this way I am certain to get the gun to the right people and it insures that the FFL is readable. Faxed FFLs have been a large hassle for many reasons in the past and I really don't like to deal with them unless I just HAVE to. Let me know if I can help you in any way or if you are looking for anything.
My numbers in case you need anything are:
(I have listed all of the phone numbers for the buyer to contact me if they want to...cell number, home number, and store number.)
Thank you, Kasey

TMI,
send payment here (store) , call if a problem (info)faxes MUST have auction info on them IF NOTthey will go in the trash0 -
Sit down with your favorite vice and chill before you have a stroke.
If you can't conect the buyer with the FFL,
THE BUYER WILL EVENTUALLY CONTACT YOU.
Then simply explain the problem.
Life is too short to sweat the small stuff. It doesn't preclude calling and writing, but hey, no reason to pull your hair out.

lose the half ass "i want to be your friend" approach. short and sweet. bullet points are good. minimal padding. just get the message across. definatley put in the part about ffl's without info go in the shredder 0 -
I agree that you're giving people too much wiggle room. If it works best for you to have stuff sent to your store, don't even give the option of sending things to your home. A simple "Send payment to....." If faxed FFLs dont work good don't allow that option either. State "A signed copy FFL copy along with payment and auction number MUST be recieved in the same envelope"
Make it short and to the point. State plainly how it needs to be, but you don't need to explain why you want it this way. Tell buyers that if the paper work is not recieved marked with auction number and together, it will not be processed. Also put those rules in your auction so if it won't work for somebody, they will know before they bid. Warn people to read before bidding, but keep it short so there isn't half a page of BS for them to read.0 -
Since my FFL lives an hour away from me, it is in-convenient for his FFL and my payment to be in the SAME envelope!
I have purchased a lotta guns on line and never had a problem with the seller matching up the two!0 -
I have approximately 10 guns coming off line each week...and the store's massive amount of paperwork to deal with. If you are sitting around watching the bugs stick to the strip of sticky stuff and have to stop what you are doing because you got a fax....it may be different.
BUT
These four faxes in the machine...the four thugs and the two foot long sks in front of me...along with the general "hooplah" of business makes for a stressful combination.0 -

I'm going to fax you one just to confuse you.[;)][}:)][:)]0 -
Are any of the customers, members that post here?
If not, you are complaining to the wrong crowd!
I'm not a big seller, however I've sold a good number of firearms and accessories here ... when I get an FFL and I don't know who its for I don't worry about it because someone will speak up! When that buyer calls or emails a few days later wanting to know if I received it I just tell them the truth: quote:"I don't know! I have several with no transaction info on them ... which one might be yours?"0 -
Locust if selling guns on the Internet is a headache for you then don't sell. I personally think a faxed ffl is great. I can fax the ffl and call in my credit card and get my gun a lot quicker. Maybe you should get out of the gun business or at least hire a helper and let them have the headaches![:D] Above all remember that everyone will not act or do the same as you or me would like them to. 0 -

This may not always work, for I've found some people can't (or don't) read.0 -
This is not the place for complaints about the Auction side. Don 0 -
I feel your pain, trying to figure that crap out.
Only had 3 going at one time, still a pain trying to figure who was getting who/what.
Oh by the way, toss out those FFL's.
I will send you good ones, to clean up that mess..
With the correct instructions.
What are those auction numbers again.

I had a PERFECT transaction with LocustFork, why can't everyone else??? 0 -
Your letter leaves things pretty open
quit giving out your fax number
You should have a new letter which reads:
You are the high bidder. Send money and signed ffl to this address. Include auction information with payment and ffl. If you have questions here is my email and my phone number.
Thank you.0 -
Quit whining. 0 -
