These are a couple of shots of our 6 point taken opening day here in Idaho. Other than that, it was pretty slim pickins in our area. It's still great to get out there for a week.[:)]elk2.jpg

    We hunt in the Silver Creek area about two hours north of Boise (east of Crouch,Idaho). This year the major ATV trail was closed so we got to do a lot of uphill hiking.[:p][:)]

    I grew up In Pocatello, Never really hunt out that way only eastern Idaho.

    We used to take some nice elk up the middle fork of the Boise. Black Worrior, Queen's River, that area. Haven't been up there for several years.

    "Other then that"? "Other then that"? I've been on many a hunt where I would have settled for a much smaller "Other then that" elk.....[:)][:)][}:)][}:)][;)][;)] Nice going....[:D][:D]

    Have you guys ever gone over to Montpillier on Hwy 30 just West of the Wyoming line?
    There's a truckstop there that was voted one of the best places to eat in a nationwide poll of truckers.
    Behind that truckstop, probably a good mile walk, is a sheltered valley that cannot be seen from the road. And in that valley, reportedly a herd of Elk winters every years. They feed them back there to keep them out of town and off the roads.
    I never walked back to see them. Never had time. But have heard this from many truckers who did. And I have seen people making the walk. I don't think they allow hunting them there.
