You wouldn't believe how many guys on the job arm themselves for extreme combat. Sometimes I think it's funny other times scary. It's mostly the younger guys who do this. Most of your veteran officers understand how unnecessary most of that stuff is.
A good folding knife is all any officer should really need.
BTW they do teach us knife fighting but it's for defending against a knife attack (being able to buy enough time to draw your sidearm).0 -
That doesn't look like a tactical "fighting" knife to me. 0 -

No, but the narrow 7" blade should be effective enough, but I believe I'd want a grippier handle.0 -
Where I worked, that would not be allowed.
As previously stated a folding knife like the Buck 110 is what I carried. It did all that I can across. Including cutting down hangers.
LEOs are not taught to fight fair, they are taught to win, and win fast. Why would you bring a knife to a gun fight?0 -

That knife looks like more of a fish filleting knife to me. I prefer Benchmade folders. But cops do need to be prepared at all times to do battle. When you think " it will never happen to me " , you open yourself up to getting killed. I took criminal justice in college and they ingrained in our heads, never assume this is a routine traffic stop, never assume the person you are dealing with is not armed, never assume the suspect is not a wanted felon. Rule # 1: Make it home every night to your family. If I think I need a M-16 in my trunk to be able to do that, then so be it.0 -
I'm glad you took the CJ class. However in the real world that knife is not needed. I was an FTO for many years and if a trainee showed up with to much crap, I would make them go back into the locker room and leave the crap behind. 0 -
CRKT does good steel, but I think this seller let his imagination run away from reality.

My knife of choice is the Spyderco Police model. It rides clipped to the top of my boot.
Its mainly for cutting seatbelts but is always there to be used as a weapon if necessary.
Sellers like to say an item is for "Police" or "Law Enforcement" use to make it sound more desirable. Ammo is one example, now knives.0 -
That knife has its applications. Good sticker, and very much out of the way otherwise.
My father was aquainted with Gherka mountain troops at Cassino. He said they would sneak out at night, and the next morning the Germans found themselves with several throats cut.
The WWII Gherka combat knife that my nephew now has is very similar to this one. And it was worn strapped to the left forearm. Best place to carry a knife, they told my father.
Just another tidbit. Joe0 -

Hey, you never know when you may be assaulted by a methed-out salmon in need of a good filleting.0 -

That knife is made to penetrate body armor or about anything else. 0 -
I have to stick to my auto Kershaw, I love it. 0 -
I always carry a knife. Generally one of my "pocket clip" auto Bokers. I also carry an ankle gun every day and also a rifle, cased up in my work vehicle.
I subscribe to preparedness, mental, physical and equipment. Early on in my career, I have gone to calls where I should have been prepared, but wasn't. Thank god I lived through them. I will never be unprepared again, period.0 -
A knife is the last thing I would want for a weapon. If that was the only thing around, it's better than nothing, but I'd rather have almost anything else. A jack handle or beer bottle for example. 0 -
I'm not a cop, but if I were, I'd hate to have to explain why I cut somebody while making an arrest. [:D] 0 -

I agree 100 % I love my whirlwind, the above knife looks like a seventh graders attempt to make a hunting knife?
