Got laid off Tues.

Well its been a good summer. Started off with 3 wks at the nuke plant this spring, left home 4/21. Went to St. Louis mid May, been here since then. Made some good money this summer. Met some good brothers. Now to get the wife and kids home for school, take a coupla weeks off and then look for the next one.

    I went yesterday and signed, Peoria, Rock Island, (where I turned down a leftover 5/10's short call), Joliet, and then got on Champaigns books by signing at their satellite hall in Streator, Ill. Long day (14 hrs) 768.3 miles.[xx(][xx(]

    On the way home last night called a brother from my home local who is working in Jeff City, MO on a powerhouse. Said they are working 4/10's right now, getting ready for 6/10's then 10-12 wks of 7/12's. Plan on being there first thing Mon. morning to get on their books, only about 3 hrs from home. 26 and change, but their bennies pyramid, i.e. time and half, and double on your pension.

    We just do it in the summer when the kids are out of school. Kinda like a working vacation. And it ain't a "new" gig, just a different one, 'eh bama?[;)][:D]

    Keep feeding that pension fund.Don't it feel good to be layed off and know the next one is going to be better.I drug up a seven tens for a rolling four tens just to get some rest once.A few weeks off and a change of faces was always a good feeling.I got a Lab pup to take up the slack between fishing and painting the house. Next month will be doing five twelves , first Dove hunting then Dove and Teal hunting.October will slack off for two weeks then back to Duck hunting.November will be busy with Duck and Quail hunting,back to five twelves. December gets very busy with Dove, Duck, and Quail hunting. I'm glad I didn't draw a Deer or Elk permit this year.If I luck out and get a Crane or Goose permit in January I'll really be busy.February will be just Quail hunting. Work safe matwor.

    Yes, mateomasfeo, I do work outages on occasion. The nuke I worked this spring was an outage. Pretty good work, short term, lots of overtime. They don't care how long it takes just get them back online.

    The nuke I worked this spring said they lost over 1 million per day in revenue. This was on 1 unit which was around 1100 megawatt.

    My company changed hands. Old company laid us off. New company offered us jobs at 0 senority. Lost all aquired vacation time and must start over. Talk about screwed w/o a kiss. I wish I was just laid off.
