    ar-15 question.

I have a ar style of rifle, but the bolt wont lock back into place like it should.

However I have tried it with a bushy bolt and carrier and it does lock back into place; however it will not lock back with the one that came with the upper.

I do not think the bolt catch itself is out of spec; or is it?

EDIT: **** The problem comes from a empty magazine and the bolt not wanting, or refusing to hold open on that empty magazine. ****

    What should I do?

I suppost they have match models that are accurate enough to be used on varmints, but there's a reason they give the "designated marksmen" M40s.

can you hunt with it larger than varmint? you "can" hunt deer with a .22LR. not recommended.

a 1/8 barrel handling heavier bullets, yes it will. recall that the military 1/7 twist was made specifically for what, 69 gr. and the reason they used heavier bullets (than 55 gr) was for enhanced penetration. so that's what you'll get with 1/8 and heavier "hunting" bullets, more penetration.

The US Coast Guard is throwing .50 cal lead out of their AR15/M16's to sink boats and shatter engine blocks.

Leitner Wise is the brand upper they are using which is just a fancier version the .50 Beowulf by Alexander Arms.

Is that big enough game for you?

    If not look at www.safetyharborfirearms.com

They have 50BMG uppers for about $2500. They work great for those larger version chipmunks that roam the woods.[:p]
