Yugo M48
Hi All,
I posted a few days ago asking opinions on what Mil-Surps you would like. I am thinking about a Swiss K31 Or a WW2 K98(along with may others) I went to my dealer on Sat. to see what he had. He did have a few RC k98's - One in particular caught my attension - a 1940(I forget the mfg #)it appears to be in nice shape potentially(typical Russian capture, missing cleaning rod, frt sight hood and trigger guard capture screw, nice bore, but dark and dirty, nice wood with shellack(i would strip and refinish the furiture) and many Nazi stamps clearly visible, also had matching barreled reciever, and floor plate and stock. rest of parts were electro-pencil matched. $279 inc transfer fees plus tax.
Another he had was a Yugo M48, looked brand new, all matching, included hard case, 120rounds on strippers in 2 60 round bandoleers, cleaning kit in cloth pouch, leather ammo pouch, correct but non# matching bayonet and scabbard for $320.
Even though its not what i would call a historic piece, I believe the m48 package is a good deal and i'm kind of thinking of getting it. I'll maybe pick up a K31 this spring. I know that its my choice, but what do you guys(or gals) think?

It's a very good rifle, comparable in strength, quality, and accuracy to most military bolt rifles, and better than a lot of them. 0 -

..aint no mosin, you got that right! It's far better looking with a far better fit finish! The M48A is better too, only a stamped floor plate the only difference between the two, no biggie.
...8mm, and mauser action, not much else to say...
...I have Finnish hex rec mosin SA,a 39 or 44 mosin 98% (I forget) and a mint, unissued M48A...NO comparrison in qaulity, 48 has it beat...[;)]0 -
