fn 5.7x28
just wondering what everyone thought of this new gun.Personally i think it is the wave of the future with its high performance rifle rounds.The only real concern i have is the wound ballistics the ammo generates.50 grain rounds seem low for stopping power but with 20rounds per clip there is plenty to spare.

i believe it's 50.ya i heard the crap their tryin to do with the fn but i live in one of the most gun friendly states in the u.s.,also what do you think the wound ballistics would be with that gun.do you think it would be compramble to the 9x18 makarov give or take. 0 -

Some folks will say that the cartridge is just a "flash in the pan" and not worth consideration. Yes, some vers. of the ammo is no longer available and what is around is expensive. Then there is that ugly penatrating kelvar thing. Personally, I enjoy the unusual. I was a much more practical man when I was younger! As for the piece -it's a beauty. I found two with consectutive serial numbers a year or so ago - just shoot one of them. As you might expect, very little recoil and that puppy gets to the target before my laser sight (well not really).
Not something you want to just take to the range for target shooting. It's something to have in your collection. Just my .02.0 -

Other than they both have a .22 caliber 30 grain v-max pill, I'm not seeing a whole lot of similarity between the two ... and the 5.7 appears to have a longer taper ... and of course a full power 5.7 will defeat level III body armor which is something a 22 mag can't even dream of.
Granted, its a nitch round ... but its no 22 mag. and since I got a custom made shell plate for my Dillon 550 (so I can reload en mass quantity) I'll be keeping my PS-90 and on the watch for a 5.7 pistol!0 -
yeah... I think the 5.7 is meant specifically for penetration. having a lot less stopping power/wound potential than most handgun ammo, it must be for special purposes.
if that's not what it's being used for, you would do a lot better with something else.0 -
I still can't get over the fact that when FNH came out with it about 8 years ago they said it would never be available to the civilian public because of the penetration. We fired it at the Lexington county range or the Richland county range when they had the "big" shoot for LE. The little bullpup, P90, I think, was way too much fun in full auto. 0 -

well since these guns with the 5.7x28 ammo,were originaly designed for military an police use.They must have some sort of stopping power.Otherwise these guns would have been scraped from the get go. 0 -
I like the looks of the gun, and the high capacity but, if I recall
correctly, nunn has handled them and wasn't all that impressed with em.

I was at the range one day shooting my Kimber and the guy next to me had a five seven. We swapped and shot a couple of clips in each others guns, and since that point I am committed to getting one for a 21st birthday present to myself. Recoil seems almost non existant, they have a nice feel for my hands and they will throw a strike. Just as cbxjeff said, I might not have any super practical purpose for it, but it was a blast to shoot and I'm gonna get one. 0
